Been looking for a 610 for about 5 years, none found at shows or shops. Came to Columbus, Ga to see Infantry museum and CW iron clad museum. Happened to search “ best gun shop” and found it. They had a new 610 Mountain Gun, I was beside myself and bought it . Looked it over and the Biggest “ issue” I see is there is no countersink bevel in the forcing cone. Forcing cone is Sharp! Can be easily fixed with cratex ball of correct size. There are black marks from the few rounds fired at S&W but am puzzled and kind of dismayed by this.
Here it is, comments and thoughts welcomed.

I have some buddies who find the 80% guns to be fun projects but this seems like an odd avenue for ole Smith & Wesson.

Chamfering the mouth of the cylinder throats and forcing cone allows more gas and carbon to escape than if they have sharp corners. Personally, I prefer them sharp. The gun will still work fine either way.

First 610 Mt. Gun I've seen. Very cool. Is this one part of the Lipsey's special run or a new offering from S&W? My 610 is one of my favorites. Range report soon? Is that a gold bead front sight? Do you like it?

The 10mm is getting more attention with ammo prices coming down and more offerings from manufacturers. Last I looked it's .36 a round compared to .53 a round for 357 Mag or .38 for 45ACP.

Got to add a pic of my no dash. Enjoy your MG.IMG_1554.jpg

Yes looks to be a gold dot front sight. Its the new version of 610 mountain gun.
Interesting regarding the sharp edge forcing cone. In 40 + years of being in machine shops, building machine tools installing them in customers plants( Cat, Allis Chambers and Avico Lycominig engine plants) Always knew sharp edges lead to cracks especially under stress. Every part was deburred and sharp edges removed.
