Well, I presented my friend his Sig P226. Made him cry.

My buddy was in Navy SWCC. Joined after 9/11, and made it through training as the shortest serving at the time. Cut off is 5'2", and he is 5'2.5" He's hispanic from Texas, and wears cowboy boots with heals so he isn't so short.

Anyway, when he mustered out, he had to surrender his Mark 25 Sig P226. He has always wanted another. I have so much respect for him and what he did, I've always wanted to get him a 226. He sold off all his firearms when his wife got cancer, and it seamed somehow wrong a warrion was unarmed.

I came across a good deal on a pristine LEO trade in, and jumped on it. I found some great black Turkish walnut grips from a new seller/maker on eBay. The grips were the only real wear item.

He and his wife came over last night before they drive down to Texas for Christmas, and because his dad's health is questionable. I presented it to him then. (We still need to do our transfer paperwork for Washington)

P226 .40 S&W SA/DA with decocker and rail. I'll post a pic when I fit the grips. .357 SIG is just a barrel change, as is 9mm MOST of the time. 9mm needs different mags.

I'm just really proud of Shorty. He has struggled a bit since he has come home. But he loves shooting, and he really loves July 4th fireworks. The loud noises WHEN IN THE COMPANY OF FRIENDS, are actually soothing for him. Lets him know he is OK.

SWCC split off from SEALS around 9/11. They are the heavy weapons and small boat experts. They may operate alone, or alongside SEALS or other units, depending on the missions. He and his battle buddy got loaned out and patrolled a lot with a Marine unit as heavy weapon support. Only about 500 SWCC on active duty. Smallest direct action elite unit in the DoD I believe.

Touching Story, You did a noble deed Sir

It sounds like his wife has survived her ordeal. Hopefully his Father's issues will work them selves out as well

While I do not know Shorty personally, he sounds like a great example of "Non sibi sed patriae"

I have an extra P226 9MM magazine or two (have to look in my box-o-mags) that I will gladly give him for his new sidearm

PM me your or his address and I will send a thank you gift for Christmas. He deserves some Karma

She did, but it took a total double mastectomy and chemo/radiation. No natural kids for them.

His now wife was a co-lead teacher with my partner back in 2007, and we have become a very close knit group. My partner's family has taken them in as well, as her family is in Japan, and his in Texas.

And FYI, if you call him Mexican-American you really offend him. He is an American. His parents were Mexican, NOT him. Love those 2.

I had pulled a pair of anti friction coated MecGars from my magazine box for sending to Shorty

Unfortunately when I was PMed his address I learned he lives in a State that Restricted magazine capacity to 10 rounds and I have spare 20s

Obviously I am not going to commit a crime. I have no restricted capacity magazines. I always get rid of them right away if they are included in a firearm I purchase.

Do we have any Forum Members that can throw some 10 round Karma Shorty's way?

If you have a couple of mags, I will pay USPS Priority Mail postage to get them to Shorty, just PM me

I almost hate saying it this way, but few who have come across our Southern Border in the past several Decades show this kind of attitude toward their new home.
