Just talked to my sales person at Lew Hortons and it seems they are being dropped by S&W as distributors. S&W dropped 5 distributors at the first of the year. My closest, Williams was aways getting special overruns/discontinued guns in that they let me rumage through, I hated to see that. Now I guess they're in their second go around and another 5 distributors are to be dropped. Reason I've heard is to be able to supply the remaining distributors with good inventory. I would think as much as Lew Horton has done for the brand they would remain one of their prefered distributors. This probably belongs in the lounge but it seems to affect revolver owners more than anyone else, guess I'm getting old enough to realise "the times they are a change'n".

That disgusts me thoroughly, LH has had some of the best small batch S&W's ever done.:mad::mad:

That makes sense. Drop a major distributor / neighbor that resides just down the road in S&W's home state. I'm sure LH is mighty happy. Can you please pull the knife out of my back.

Why am I not surprised.

The current company is not even a shadow of the once great institution.

As far as I am concerned, the company I once loved has been dead and gone since the early 90's.

What remains is not even close...

Are you referring to Lew Horton or S&W?

Actually, Bangor Pu(n)ta killed it, as far as I am concerned. I bought a 649 in that era that was a complete utter and total pig. No QC, not concern. I can't see getting rid of LH as a distributor, for the reasons expressed above. They had some folks that really came up with great ideas for special models. Not every one of them appeals to me, but that doesn't make them less good. Only appealing to me would likely be poor for the other folks out in the world who have other goals.

l have a LH Model 24 44spec bought NEW that came from the factory with a missing screw from the side plate. l guess it missed the qc of SW and LH

LH & Colt

I guess LH will be doing Colt's Autos, cause all their great wheel guns are no more! Yes I agree, no more loyalty.

Very short term thinking. Pretty normal though, it is a very rare thing for a corporation to be able to avoid the kind fragmented, short term thinking that puts the bottom line this month or this quarter ahead of long term relationships. Once the well of customer good will is sucked dry, what differentiates S&W from any other maker?

IIRC , back when I had my shop , S&W wouldn't deal with any distributors or stocking dealers that stocked Ruger handguns. Don't think that policy lasted very long.
