Went and done it!

It's been 6 years now since we had to put our last dog down and she was a great dog,as of recent times I really miss her.
So thanks to my son he found this old gal in need of a home so I decided to adopt her.
If everything works out this will be the new addition to our household and to our motorhome travels!

Sweet! Older pet adoptions can be wonderful. We adopted a 9 year old cat 9 years ago, great pet. Sent her off over Rainbow Bridge today at age 18. Hard to do.

Can't wait to meet her and I hope all goes well. I'll be very disappointed if it doesn't.
Don't know much of her story except her owner had to give her up due to health reasons. But I guess we'll find out the rest of the story soon.
I just really miss not having a dog around!

Well today was the day, the adoption was final and we finally met Boo!
She now has a home and her spot!

Good on you for adopting an older dog. Be patient (and I know you will) and she'll love you as much as her past family. Dogs are wonderful companions. I can't remember when I've ever been without one.

Great move. Wish more people would do rescues. We've got 2 dogs,both rescues. A male Westie that's now 9 and a 9yr old female Cairn that we rescued right before Christmas.

We've had dogs and cats in our family for over 30 years. Most we had at one time was 3 dogs and two cats. Now down to 2 dogs and 1 cat. Each has their own personalities and traits. Bob the pit bull hates thunderstorms and usually at night ends up in my bed all 100 pounds of him.The little dog can't keep her big mouth shut. Bob only barks when he has to go out or he sees something at night in the back yard. Frank

When we picked her up we got a lot more of her story. She was not a local surrender but was surrrendered from the south and brought here. She was left to lay in a crate in her own waste! Her coat was matted and shaved and she now has some skin problems going on. The Rescue bought her all up to date on her shots and was giving her antibiotics for the skin issues. She is a bit underweight to the point you can feel her spine and her ribs.
But so far she's now living the life here with us!
We started her on some real good dog food and giving a supplement for her coat and skin.
Last night when we fed her she licked her bowl clean! Of course I had steak (filet) for dinner for which she received some as well for a treat. She loved that! And they said this dog didn't eat much?
So far she has claimed her spot on our dog couch, (our old dog had claimed that one as well!)
Took a chance with her last night and left her sleep in our room, got her own new bed with a gel foam mattress, nope not for her? Now where do you think she thought she was going to sleep, my side of the bed, my spot! Needless to say she got scooted but she remained at our footend for the night!
So far she slept through the night and so far no messes or accidents in the house!
I can't leave her sight,she's constantly with me or the wife!
So for the short time she has been with us, she's becoming quite the character!
I think we made the right decision on adopting this one!

Poor little dog.....she now has the good life!
