I went into 3 stores yesterday here in Idaho and all three had just recieved a shipment of primers! Granted limited quainities but every type. These were mom and pop stores too. The one I frequent most is a Gun/Pawn shop. He sold me a brick of Large Pistol for 34.00. He reinterated he was not going to gouge his customers because we all have a long memory. I will check with him first from now on before I buy anything. Hopefully things are getting better.

There is only one store within 75 miles that has primers, and he is still in the area of $35 or so for 1,000 large pistol. He knows that people are not going to spend a fortune, no matter what.

Well, people who haven't lost their heads won't spend a fortune. I've seen a few boxes of primers (1,000) go for north of $75 on the auctions, plus shipping and hazmat fees, etc. In all seriousness, at that price, it's time to reconsider why you're reloading.

My fast math:
500 55grFMJ .223 - $50, or $0.10/ea
1000 SR primers - $50, or $0.05/ea
1lb powder - $20, or $0.08/load

And that's if you've already got the brass... If you don't it's another $0.20/case!

I can buy brass-cased Federal for $400/1000, fire them and keep the brass.

There's a couple places online selling primed brass with FMJ bullets and no powder for about $250/1000. That makes sense to me, and I may well order up a thousand soon.
