Went looking for Cokes

Thanks for all the input guys. And thanks for the DM Bob and Chris.
Lee- I used the term battered as it's most likely been dropped as I can't think of any other way to damage both sights and the hammer.
I think I would like to replace the sight as it kinda bugs me even though it's functional ( like hanging a straight used fender on an old Stude', it will look better). I will clean it up and maybe try to touch up the hammer and front sight. It does shoot well and I won't be worried carrying it in the woods.

And hopefully I'll find some Cokes for my 5 screw.

Whenever I see a hammer that looks a little different than original, I always check it for "push-off". Some people like to lighten the trigger pull, and it is very easy to go too far. Just cock the hammer back, and see if you can fairly easily push it forward with the heel of your hand. This is without touching the trigger. It should stay latched up. If it goes forward real easy, it could possibly be a safety issue. Your call. Let's hope all of that hasn't been tinkered with.

John Jovino would do that to the hammer spur on his custom guns. I'm sure many other gunsmiths did it as well. The letter for this M-25 shows that it went to Jovino.

If the hammer on the OP's revolver was done by a "gunsmith", that smith should send his FFL back to the BATF-E and take up ditch digging.
