As the title implies, I had no intentions of purchasing a gun yesterday but for some reason I could not leave this one behind. I haven't even looked into the model 36 with any great length of time but I'm sure glad this one grabbed me. It's a 3" roundbutt judging from the database I think it's from July-August of 1974. It didn't come with any goodies and these Harrett grips are obviously not original but I think they look and feel pretty good. Overall I'm happy. The wife may not 😰. Here are some pictures.

Great find and great grips. I have a set of those for my Charter Arms. The model is "Shooting Ace". I had a 3" model 37 years ago. Regret getting rid of it.

I know nothing of the grips. Are they respectable? They feel great. I guess that's what counts. I kind of got a sambar thing going. That's for another day. For now these are staying. BTW, thanks for the kind words all. Doc

I have those grips, w/a grip adapter, on my 340PD. Anyone know if they're made anymore?

I've got the adapter too. Tyler T. Wasn't sure if it would work. Thought the grips were like target grips. That's good to know it will work.

I think you will find you don't need a grip adapter. Yes they are very respectful and agree they feel great ! I wish I had a nice vintage set for my Chiefs. I also like sambar and elk stag grips.

PaulDoc, nice find. I had a 3" Model 36. Sold it and regret it. I do have a nice set of the Herrett's Shooting Ace grips for the J-frame square butt. I had them on my Model 63 but changed them out for some S&W presentation grips. Nothing wrong with the Herrett's. I just get bored easily and like to switch things up. :)

A very nice snag. I would have taken it home as well. Congratulations. I have Herrett grips on a 2 1/2 M19 and a 4 inch M57 they are great grips.

I will add my belated Congrats - it looks fabby and those grips are unobtanium now! Revolver and grips are both keepers!

Edited to add: Looks like you waxed it - how did you cover up the cylinder turn-line?

Nice find! I think you will come to appreciate those Herrett Shooting Ace grips.

I put a pair on my Chief about 50 years ago and they have been on there ever since. I found them to be the perfect compromise between concealability and shootability.

The design puts the recoil into the palm of your hand instead of the web between your thumb and forefinger. I tried a grip adapter with them and found I didn't need it.

Believe it or not I didn't even wax it. Just cleaned oiled and wiped it down with the ol' oily rag.
