Went shooting yesterday, The Nosler Varmageddons are great, I was shooting at a 8" gongs that I have at 200yrds , with the Hornady 55gr BTFMJ's I was getting 2 or 3 out of 10 shots 3 strings,
with the Nightmare Extreme HP's in 3 strings I was getting 7 out of 10 hits,
with the Nosler Varmageddons Ballistic Tips I got 2 strings of 9/10 and 1 string of 10/10,
The V-max were 2 of 7/10 and 1 of 8/10
All of the bullets were 55gr, all shot with both sports, I just traded back and forth. I kept the barrels cool.
I checked the rifles at 25yrds before I started. The Hornady FMJ's didnt group very well on paper either. The Chrono had them all at about 2950fps avg, everything else grouped great. Those Noslers were the best consistency at long distance. Shot quite a few bullets but I needed the practice.
Shot the T/C Icon .308 also, 4 shots to zero and then 12/12 on the gong. Tore it up. not a good day to be a gong. I didnt hurt the gong but it is in dire need of a paint job now.
I also sighted in my offset sights. They are great at under 50 yards for me, but I suck at them. I need to practice more but my friend shot well with them.
Here are pics of my original Sport with the sights and new Rail plus a pic of where I was shooting. if you look off in the distance you will see a ridge below the hill, if you take a microscope you can just see the gong. LOL

Nice I am still waiting to get my .300 ammo before I go out again :D

Oh sorry for not being around for a few days I am getting ready for a new hip (the second one) I had one done in 2011 and now they are going to do the other one. I have to get my shooting in while I can.
I had just put a 6-24x50 scope on the T/C Icon so I was just testing it out.
I am going to stay with my Ballistic tipped bullets until I can work on the loads for the FMJ's. A question I have is that I did some research and it takes 18" of barrel to get complete powder burn in a .223/5.56. I am getting great accuracy and I know I am getting complete powder burn but do I need to increase velocity to get better accuracy from the FMJBT's. I have tried 2.20 and 2.250-2.255 OAL with no appreciable difference. The Nosler Ogive just seems to work better for me and my rifles are really no different mechanically than anyone else's Sports? I am just confused. Can I boost velocity even if I dont get all the powder burnt? It seems just to make the rifles dirtier.
Oh the last pic is my new Hi Point 4595ts 45acp Carbine. Great to 100yrds. :D

Also....Notice not all of Kansas is flat as a board!! :D :D :D

I have the greatest accuracy with my sport with m193's and equal accuracy when I pushed the FMJ's to the same velocity, but I am planning on using the lower less accurate 27.8 due to whats happening , less wear and tear.

My prayers are with you and may your recovery be quick my friend

It is kinda funny, we both use the same powder but I load a little lower than you do, you do get better accuracy with the hornady than I do. I may try my Hornady's with a higher loads. You still arent seeing any pressure signs and nothing has broken?

I use the Winchester FMJ's but sorta 27.8 has good accuracy but it drops off at 28,28.2 better at 28.4 but at 28.6 same accuracy as the 193 with the primers showing signs of overpressure like the 193 but no detectable problems with the rifle.I ran 56 rounds of 28.6 thru her so far. I think its because our girls are chambered for 5.56 which I have found out are over pressured to begin with .The only difference is our altitudes I am at 0 lol

I am also use the rcbs small base dies.
