Anybody else go to the Indy 1500 GS today at the state fairgrounds? I arrived at about 11:15 am and only took
about 10 minutes to get in the door. I used to go early but got tired of standing in line for an hour just to get in.
Show was packed with people and they seemed to be buying.
Ammo, guns, accessories, etc..
I just looked over the dealers with the stuff i like. P&R Smiths and some older rifles. No real deals to be had so i sold the 2 guns i took with me then browsed for about an hour. Started getting hot inside with so many bodies in there and wife was waiting in the truck reading so i left. No new purchases today but i left with 1400 dollars in my pocket.
Saw some nice stuff but model 28's at 850 and model 19's at 750 and higher kinda made me smirk. Oh well, guess my stuff in the gunsafe at home is worth more than what i thought.

Went to the gun show in Las Cruces NM today. Paking was unreal: I had to walk five minutes to get to the door. Place was packed, hard to move through the aisles. Didn't see much money changing hands although there were some nice guns on display. Got some 45 ACP ammo and a Redfield sight for a rifle. My friend go two Mauser 1914s he didn't have in his fairly extensive colllction. We're both happy.

I understand that History's Greatest Gun Salesman made some remarks this week regarding getting around to those evil assault weapons.

Tried to look it up but all the clips I found sounded too much like "The View."

Indy 1500

I went Friday night. Lots of people, and lots of ammo being taken out by
The hand truck load. It also looked like there was a lot of people filing out
Paperwork for gun purchases.
All I came home with was some reloading components. But as always I had
A good time.

I also went to the Indy 1500 on Friday looking for a 25-2. I was not very encouraged as prices for all revolvers seemed to be totally crazy. I saw several model 28's priced at $850 to $900. I had walked the entire show and did not see a single 25-2 but noticed that there was a small room in the back with a sign over the entrance that said "More Ammo". As soon as I walked into this area I saw about a dozen tables covered with nice S&W and Colt revolvers, many were nib. One of the first things I saw was an unfired (1975-1977) 25-2 with smooth target grips, the presentation box, tools, etc. The price was $1200. This was more than I wanted to pay so I dickered a bit and long story short was out the door at $1050. This is no bargin but I thought it was a fair price and i left happy. I will try and post pictures if I can find my camera.

It's a good excuse to see a bud in Indy so I made the Spring show and considered making a return trip. But it's an overnight hotel plus the cost of gas for a 350 mile round trip, etc. I'll be there at least once next year because there's nothing else that big in three states..

I have been to at least one gunshow, sometimes more, for the last eight weeks, including Birmingham last week. There's one in Jackson today but I decided to sit out one weekend so I could finish my shooting shack. I will meet my brother Louisiana Joe next Sunday at the Kenner, La. show. He will be getting his second knee replacement the day after the show and won't see any shows for a few weeks.

I went to Indy 1500 as well. Picked up some small items and a Crimson Trace mini laser that will work on my various pistols and AR 15-22.
I just have to know one thing....what is with all of the Sig's at threse Indiana shows?
They must outnumber all other new guns for sale 10 to 1...

rufgr-I think you got a better deal than you do on that 25-2, and look at model 28 prices in just the last year or so! I think we'll see that this is a trend we will see on "older" revolvers and pistols on into the future; and this in a poor economy.

I've caught some deals at Indy but the 200 mile roundtrip and the location of the fairgrounds usually keeps me away. One of my pals was buying guns in a big way and taking them out to his truck as he bought them. Guess what happens next? yep, all gone.

The Asheville Show is always packed. There is a smaller building a short walk from the one the show is in, either they ought to start a Gun show annex, or they ought to go to three days, maybe both. All I bought at the last one was some ammo, but I had a gun on the way from Gunbroker.com.

I usually get there mid morning on Saturday and it is packed and hard to find parking. I have trouble walking from neurapathy and a 5 minute walk is hard on me. I will bet it was more like ten minutes. By the time i leave it has thinned out some. I don't ususally see any bargains in guns. The rare stuff is all being sold by dealers.
