Were has all the 9mm Ammo gone???

St. Louis has a Cabela's, a Bass Pro, and a plethora of Wally Worlds with quite a few LGS's.

I went to Cabelas Thursday after work, an acquaintance told me they had both 9mm and 22 LR Wednesday. The shelves were bare of those 2 but they had quite a bit of Herters steel case 5.56. Limit 5, I bought that, they had just received AR 30 round Magazines, bought 2 of those @ $25 each, it is the same one Bushmaster ships with their guns I was told. I also bought a 25 round box of 12 gauge #4 Buck. It makes an effective home door greeter.

I ran by Bass Pro after that, no 9 m or 22LR, they had 4 boxes of Rem 180 grain 44 MAg, bought 2, they had 3 boxes of 357 mag, bought one of those. $30 for the 357 and $40 for the 44. Shot one box of each caliber at the range today.

I had stuff before the locusts ate the shelves bare and I'm just looking for a few boxes of plinking 9 MM for my wife's Sig. Bass pro had a 5 box limit.

I do not go to Walmart to look for ammo, but each time my wife wants grocery shopping company I go and swing by the ammo department, other than some 270, 243, 308, 30-06 and shotgun ammo it is always empty.

I found some at Bass Pro,Dicks Sporting ,Farm Fleet,Walmart. The best time is first thing in the morning.
I never take the last box ,always leave some for the next guy!

Its getting better around my area.

All the stores had 9mm at different times the last two days.

I actually spent a lot of time a aggravation running around my area gathering up 9 mm and 22lr over the last month.

My area is getting some sort of ammo in 2-3 times a week so its getting better IMO.

I wonder how many Democratic gun owners that are being affected by this gun/ammo craze will remember the hard feelings and shortages today the next time they vote?

Certainly none of the ones who got free cell phones, etc.

I'm a newbie who's in the market for an M&P 9.... but since I'm having a tough time getting 22lr for my first two guns, it doesn't make sense to get another gun *right now* that's hard to get ammo for. It's a rough time to be getting into the sport.... seems that the ammo is going mostly to hoarders and gougers.

I will get the M&P 9, just going to ride it out for a bit. Glad to hear that in some areas it's not a major thing to buy some ammo at a fair price.

If you can find an M&P 9 now,I'd go for it. The next "wave" coming in will be when the ammo catches up and the "weapons of choice" suddenly get hard to find (again) and the prices start going up ...again.

I'd get one ESP. living in Colo. What they gonna try and take away next ?

20 years worth

I know guys who barely shot 50 rounds a year, who suddenly felt a need to buy a thousand rounds. I guess they are stocked up for the next 20 years.

I think that is a major part of the problem.

But - at the last gunshow here there was a bunch of unsold 9mm at show's end. In a previous post I said I believed that a few days like that will help bring prices down.

I know those boys don't like hauling that unsold ammo back out to the truck after a two-day show. They're likely to come down a bit on their prices for their next show.

So be patient and prices and availability should gradually improve.

I love all of the, I'm not a hoarder, but I gotta buy up all the ammo I see responses.

Where's the 9mm?

Well, you can thank J-No at DHS for some of this mess: 9mm Ammo Shortage: Part of Backdoor Gun Control?. DHS will have 5 rounds for every single American, not to mention hundreds of armored vehicles, etc. It's not clear if they're planning for domestic violence or Obama is doing some "back door" gun control like the article says.

We're living in a time when our Gov't is becomming afraid of law-abiding citizens. There is so much "conspiracy talk," that at least some of it has to be true. I'm just glad there is still some reloading component availability. my best source is still Midway, or Black Hills Shooting Supply. Does the Social Security Admin really have 1MM rounds of 9mm?

M&P 9 Shield Mags?

I'm still looking for extra mags for my 9mm Shield. I see some 7 rd mags out there. Is there anyone with extra 8 rd mags? Or is that "Politically Incorrect"?

Our local Walmart has not received a single round of any caliber of ammo since last December. The next nearest Walmart is 35 miles away and they have had no ammo deliveries in several months. I don't know why, but no ammo is being delivered around here. There is a rumor that a Walmart up the coast got one case of CCI Blazer a couple of weeks ago. The store rationed it to one box/50 and sold out in an hour.

There are plenty of shield mags around here. Either mag in either caliber, whichever u prefer.

same deal in Placerville. Walmart looks like a ghost town on that isle. I've got mine, but still look when i go thru there. it's comical and sad at the same time.

Were they stocked on a regular basis before December? Ammo is hit or miss at the Walmarts in Richmond but there is always something on the shelf. 30-06, .270, bunch of shotgun ammo last week.

gunbot has been a Science send(South Park pun.), your best luck is usually 11am EST, and 3-5pm EST. I've picked up nearly 2k in rounds of good, quality stuff, under $.40 a bullet, for FMJ.

I just buy it when I see it. I have not even had my gun a month, and I have stock piled over 1200 rounds at an average price of 32 cents a round.

Not great at 48 cents/round before shipping but it's in stock. I grabbed 2 boxes a week or two ago and it arrived with no issues (plus one box of their boxes of "48 hour sale" .223). 50 rds - 9mm Aguila 124gr FMJ AU1E092110

I've got a couple boxes of Winchester white box target 9mm ($30+tax per 100) headed to the local Cabela's to go pick up in a couple days (along with some .22LR that's already there waiting for me). Also the range I've been frequenting had bulk reloaded 9mm for I want to say $14/50 (or maybe per 25) and boxed reloaded stuff for $16 (again, I think it was per 50 but might have been per 25). Don't forget to check the most obvious place for range ammo... the range.

Just picked up some at precision rifle. I don't think I would call it "reasonable" but at the same time, it was under .50 a round. They had .38spl as well (I just bought a revolver, too), so I pulled the trigger. Gotta shoot something. 200 total rounds with shipping came out to $150.
So, "reasonable"? No. "Acceptable?" I guess so.

The major problem in all this is a lack of foresight. "Guns and ammo will always be there". The nubies waited to buy guns, many shooters waited until the threat of Obamaban to stock up on ammo. If things cool off lets stock up a little at a time and maybe avoid this happening again.

I had 1000 rds of WWB in the safe so I felt pretty prepared for this shortage. I was at the Tulsa show this weekend and early Friday ran into a guy putting 900 rounds of Black Hills Ammunition (red box) 115gr JHP on his table. I got it for $22/box. I think I did ok but that is still .44/round. I left 900 rounds of the blue box for the next guy. 20 minutes later it was all gone.

Stack it deep when its cheap.

Just left the LGS; they had several 100rd boxes of WWB for $31.99...

So what.. If they want to buy 5 or 10 thousand rounds it's no one's but their own business.

A thousand rounds ain't squat.

I am quiet sure many doing the complaining have more ammo on hand today than they did a year ago.

But of course that's different somehow.

Maybe anyone that feels like they are being treated unfairly should tell me how many rounds I am allowed to have...

Yeah , I'd like to hear that.

PSA has plenty of Fiocchi 9mm they usually also have MagTech or Blazer Brass 9mm.

It took me two hours to find 9mm ammo online, and yes, I panicked and bought 10 of the 31 boxes on stock. The real difficulty is finding an inexpensive range-round for target shooting. All I can find is shoot-through-wall-to- the neighbors-place rounds online. The shooting range I go to seems to have inexpensive range-round so I buy them there. Now I just need to find some bad guys for the hollow-points- not.

I just came back from 2 gun shops and no 9mm to be had. I just shot 100 last weekend and will have to stop until I can replenish. I also don't have time to stalk the gun shops. Sucks.

9MM Ammo

Try Dick's. If they have it. I call every few days. When I am lucky it is $14.99 for box of 50. Been getting Remingtons.

My LGS here in CT had more than 15,000 rounds on the shelf today. 50rd boxes of Federal American Eagle 115gr 9mm for $13.99 with a 2 box limit.

I found some Blazer Brass today for $14.99/50 round box. I can finally shoot my new Shield.

Nothing in NE FL, except for very expensive SD rounds at Gander Mountain. Bulk pack 5.56 and 9mm and .45 has disappeared. WalMart is getting squat in and they haven't seen .22 LR in months.
Geoff
Who passed up 420 round cans of 5.56 waiting for a sale. Oh well he who hesitates is loused!
