What .38 gun did Gen. Patton use in 1912 Olympics?

He used a .38

But I cannot find if it was a .38 S&W or a .38 Special or what gun

The revolver is still on display at Fort Knox in the the Patton Museum. Looks like a Colt Army Special, not the M1903 or any earlier version of the Army revolver in .38 Long Colt. It clearly rotates clockwise and is devoid of the second set of cylinder stop notches.
