What about a 9mm Shield with Crimson Trace® Green Laserguard

You don't need special holster for crimson Trace laser, but you do need a holster made for shield with laser.
The laser turn on whenever you grab the pistol. There is a pressure button/pad underneath the trigger guard.
Have you look at ArmaLaser??

The green laser is visible for miles. The green laser is definitely visible at any legally defensible shooting range for a handgun.
As far as 'dependable', if you mean how far out can you trust the green laser to be idk, say within 8" of the point of impact, again I'd say as far as you'd ever shoot in a defensive scenario.
The green laser on my M&P45 will keep shots within a 6" target from 50 yards, at least. I have it adjusted to be spot on POA=POI at 15 yards.

The Crimson Trace for the shield has a tab with a button that forms along the trigger guard. Your middle finger activates the button when you grip your gun normally. Easy enough to deactivate by letting off a little with your middle finger, otherwise a normal grip will turn it on while keeping your trigger finger ready to do its job with the trigger instead of doing other switches or buttons.

I'm not a big fan of lasers/lights that turn on automatically and stay on whenever outside of the holster. Draws a lot of attention if all you're doing is removing the gun to move it, let's say from holster to car vault.

I went with the red CT laser on my 9mm Shield because of price & the batteries last longer with the red lasers, but either way you won't regret it, it really helps

Have you guys used the Shield with the Crimson Trace® Green Laserguard? I'm just curious how worthwhile it is for actual "in use emergency" application?

I'm not new to handguns but I am to laser and look forward to your input.

Wife and I have one each. Both with CT laserguards. Hers is red mine is green. Both work great.

There is a temptation to focus on the laser along I notice. Which makes a bad habit for someone lacking the fundamentals anyway.

But if it ever somehow makes the difference in a fight I figure why not. If it doesn't it doesn't hurt anything. Sights still work. What if I want to aim from the hip or something though?

Like our two shields with them fwiw.

I went with the green CT Laserguard on mine...and love it. I have two Sigs with red CTs and the difference in seeing the spot at 20+ feet in daylight gives green an insurmountable lead. The Sigs will go green, too, as I can afford it.

Shield 9mm with green crimson trace

This has been my pocket carry gun for two years. I love it and have no intention of changing for anything. I also have a 642 which I also have had for years and it also is an excellent gun. You can't go wrong with 9MM shield and green Crimson Trace.

Shield laser

I think green is the way to go. I use the Viridian for Shield. You can day , night , low light. Comes with holster that turns laser on when you draw . They also have a leather holster that has the on off feature & is very nice.

I love mine. Had it since June. Bought it and night sites since the shields don't come with them. Super bright! My night sites are sitting in the drawer. Haven't had a reason to put them on.

I love my laser system!

I have an M & P Shield 9mm with a Viridian green laser sight with the Enhanced Combat Readiness (ECR) feature. I love it! Although I think the laser system can, in some cases, provide a measure of intimidation, I would not rely on that factor (but it certainly doesn't hurt). I bought this system with the express intent to provide me a quick and very accurate means of placing an aimpoint on a target from a prone position behind concealment or cover (think home defense scenario).

Another advantage is shooting from a close retention position. On the range, I have held my Shield just above my waistline, or straight in front of my body, and was able to place very accurate shots at self-defense ranges.

Unlike the Crimson Trace series lasers, my Viridian w/ECR is always "active" when I draw (personal preference). Yes, the battery life is shorter, but the laser is only on for very short periods of time when I draw and fire. When I holster, the laser turns off again. In a situation where I want to have my weapon drawn, but don't want to highlight my position, I simply wrap one finger around the front of the laser mount (using a very slightly modified grip) until I'm ready to fire, but I must say I never intent to draw my weapon unless I fully intend to use it.

I personally bought the green laser vice a red laser due to the increased visibility. Since the human eye is most sensitive to light in the 505-555 nanometer range (that's why most tennis balls are bright yellow/green) the spot shows both bigger and brighter both day and night (a phenomenon known as the Purkinje shift). To demonstrate this effect, the next time you are driving down the interstate at night, look at an illuminated sign displaying gas prices in red and green numbers side-by-side. From a distance, the green numbers will look almost twice as tall and bright as the red numbers, even though they are exactly the same size. I simply think this make it easier to acquire the laser spot in very complex backgrounds.

Lastly, as stated in an earlier post, the laser itself (be it red or green) is an invaluable dry-fire training aid. Nothing will highlight muzzle drift more than a laser spot at 15 yards!

Bottomline: Buy it! You WON'T regret it!

My $.02 doesn't make any difference on the color. We have the red CT on my wife's shield. The only problem is that she carries hers in one of the custom purses with the side zip compartment along with about 10 lbs of other junk. Since the Shield does not have a rail to positively locate the CT it has a tendency to loose its point of aim. If she got rid of 5 lbs of the junk it probably would not be an issue.

My wife and I both have 9mm Shields...where I'd originally installed the Crimson Red along with TruGlo TFO (Tritium/Fiber Optic sights)...then we both switched to the Crimson Green when CT came out with them.

Again, we certainly hope that we will never have to use them to defend or protect our family, friends, or loved ones. But I'm a big believer in consistency and training, too. So that our eyes are trained that both the front iron sights are Green and so is the Green Lasers on our 2 Shields and Mossberg 500, too.

After having the Red and Green...the Green is WAY easier to see by far. A person can easily see the Green in full sun where the red disappears. Also the Green is incredibly bright at night (like a bright flashlight that lights up a whole room).

I have an Ruger LCP 380 with the green laser and a Ruger LC9S with the red laser. I like a laser for really quick accusation of target. I really like the green laser, easily seen in day light and Great at night but really both Red and Green are good at night.
