Somebody slipped and added an extra zero ? That one will be there a while . . . of course, you'd only have to sell one . . . .

A software problem?

There is nothing special about the gun. It would have been mentioned in the description. My guess is that it's a $500 gun that got 3 bids. Gunbroker screwed up the listing.

The seller inputs the information. If it was a typo ( can't believe at THAT price it's not, but I've seen a lot of weird stuff on auction sites) it was the seller who did it.

I sold an 8-3/8 M57 for $475 about 10 years ago. It was in near mint condition. Never fired anything except full .41 Mag loads in it for nigh onto the 12 years that I owned it. I guess I put a couple thousand rounds through it. I also bought it 2nd hand. So, it's really hard to tell. It's worth whatever it's worth to the person who wants it. Not knocking the $500. If could get $475 10 years ago, it's really not unreasonable to expect to get $500 today for nice gun.

Just my $0.02!:)

My guess is the bidder knows the seller and/or reserve price and knows how high he can bid, to what end I have no idea.

it was relisted and ended with a $7,500 bid and reserve wasnt met???

Thinking outside the box here; this could be related to money laundering or other crookedness; fake bids, bankruptcy fraud, bogus invoicing scheme, etc. There's really no telling. But from the sound of it, I doubt it's legit.

This gun has been on GB for months. I came across it when searching for a Model 57 with an 8-3\8" barrel and kept a watch on it, seeing it being continually relisted after the bid price not meeting the reserve. I stopped following it after one auction hit $1000, assuming that the seller wanted a stupidly high price. Now it hasn't sold after being bid up to $7500, so something is obviously screwy.

The guy who bid it up to $5000 and then $7500 did so unopposed. I assume he's someone who just wanted to see what the heck the reserve is, but has no intention of paying.

$5000.00! Wow! I guess I missed something on my first read here. Sorry about that.

I was working without my glasses on. Not a smart move, I guess!:D
