What are the ladies, or your wives, carrying?

mine carries a S&W 637. shes an old school gal who loves hammered revolvers! one of the many reasons i married her is that shes been carrying a gun longer than i have...

Sounds like your wife is inexperienced, so a revolver makes a lot if sense. I also would go with one that's DAO as well. My Wife's first gun years ago was a model 60 which she was fairly proficient and well trained with and I thought it a good overall choice for her. Then one night we had an attempted break-in. I grabbed one of my Glocks, told her to call 911 and arm herself with her 60. The guy ended up fleeing, but after it was all said and done, I noticed my wife had cocked the hammer on her model 60. She didn't even realize she had done it. I researched it a bit and found it was fairly common for people in a high-stress real-life situations to do this as well as put their finger on the trigger(Police Officers as well). So I decided a simpler heavy triggered DAO revolver made a whole of sense and traded in the 60 for a 640.

My wife carries a M&P 9c backed up by a FS 9 in the car should she need it.

My wife carries a Charter Arms .38 Special+P dao off duty "The Pink Lady" with Crimson Trace laser grips.

She wanted it for two reasons. One it is pink. And two because it is super light weight (12oz).

It's loaded with Hornady Critical Defense .38 special lite. All I can say is nobody better cross her. She went 3/3 in the head of a man shaped target at seven yards off hand on her first time shooting with the CTGs.

Where the red dot goes.....

My girl has picked all 3 of the handguns she owns. The only "direction" I gave was for the first one to be a revolver, as i wanted her to be able to protect herself in short order. She bought 3 autos after that. A .380 kel-tec goes with her everywhere, but I'm still working on convincing her to purse-carry her 642 instead.

I stood by silently (stomach churning!) as she picked out her Glock 19. It is by far her favorite to shoot, and does HD duty. And you can always learn something, even from a new shooter...after a good bit of trigger-time with the Glock, I can certainly see the draw of them. It's a well-built, ultra-reliable tool. In spite of all of the "pretty" handguns that I own (Smith, Colt, Browning), I can't say for certain that if I knew there was going to be some shootin', that the Glock wouldn't be the one I'd want with me. Forgive me...

My wife has tried my semi's, but seems to lean toward the revolvers. So locally I found her two. a S&W M60 and a Charter Arms 5 shot.
Why two? One is on the night stand and the other next to her seat in the family room.
We put almost 50rds thru the 60 this last Wednesday.

My wife has a Model 60-9 Ladysmith .357 magnum, but she uses +P .38 Special in it. Very nice revolver, the combat grips really give her good command of the revolver. She is also adept at using the house Rem 870 Police shotgun. I do not worry too much when I am away from home, she is quite competent and has the right mindset.

My wife carries a 9mm Shield my daughter & I "pinked" out for her...
She's a Glock girl, but Gaston won't make the single stack 9 that would sell by the thousands, so she has the closest thing.

Grab the Glock, throw in a 33 round mag and then take care of business.

Shield and Glock 42

Those who say these two guns are the same size are incorrect..the Glock 42 feels like a toy compared to the Shield, but I would say both are great options for discretely carrying in your purse or on your person. Although I can't really speak to the latter as I haven't gotten my CCW permit yet. The Glock 42 feels much lighter in hand, but I think I would have more confidence in my Shield.

My wife carries the Bodyguard ( with laser ). She's retired LEO and values the small package. She mountain bikes allot and likes that it fits in her bike bags.

Agreed. The Bodyguard is a much better comparison to the G42, although even the Bodyguard feels more substantial than the G42 or even the Kahr P380 for that matter...

S&W 60-14 or a G42 and to be honest I don't know which she has when but 1 of the 2 at all times.

Over the years she's carried G19s, a G26, Beretta 380, Kahr PM9s, Bersa 380, Walther P22, Kel Tec P32. I don't care what it is just so she's carrying! She took my CCW class 3 times as it evolved & we have ongoing discussions about the law, situational awareness, what our respective roles are during a confrontation, handing her gun or OC spray, etc. We also involve the kids & make sure they understand their roles & responsibilities...

My gf has a LC9 with the CT laser. The gun fit her smaller hands better and she liked the laser. I do not care for lasers but that was her choice. Ironically she shot my shield better even with the "broken trigger" that she disliked when trying on the guns. Next time we go to the range I am going to have her try my Shield now that I have installed Apex's new trigger, but not tell her about the new trigger. I feel that the long trigger pull is a hindrance to her, it is to me. I like to give her options but leave the decision to her.

Female here: I carry a few (a girl can never have to many guns)...M&P Shield 9. M&P Compact in the colder months (easier to conceal with winter gear). I also carry a Sig p938 and P238 (.380). I love them all!!!!

Oh and I always carry, condition 1.
