I buy quality holsters whenever I find them cheap. It doesn't matter if I have the appropriate gun or can't even tell what they fit. That probably explains why I have so much leather in the house.

I was going through a stash of holsters yesterday and came across this Milt Sparks IWB. I think it's an early Summer special. I probably paid $5-$10 dollars for it at a swap meet or gun show.

I decided to see if I could determine what it was made for. I thought it might fit a 3" 1911, but it''s way too loose. It was made for a semi-auto with a round trigger guard, but I tried my square trigger guard 6906 anyway. Too long...

I was thinking maybe a 59XX/69XX series gun, but I don't own one. My .45 CQB was nearby, so decide to check it out. Bingo, it's a perfect fit! I don't carry or shoot the gun, but it's nice to have an appropriate holster.

There's a lesson to this story...
If you come across a good holster for pennies on the dollar, buy it. There is one exception... If you live near me and come across some nice unknown gun leather, please keep walking! ;)

It is an early summer special or at least it looks just like mine. As a young cop I saved up to buy the holster / mag pouch and belt combo for my first off duty gun a lightweight commander.
I have had great luck finding vintage high end holsters my favorite being a $5 Milt Sparks Roadrunner which I had dyed black. Also from the $5 bin a Kramer pocket holster for $7 and a Tex Shoemaker floral carved.

In the late eighteen i owned a gunshop in Rome, and i played in the IPSC Italian championship, first years I partecipated with a 1911 Springfield Armory 38SA DISTINGUISHED by Les Baer and with an Hernie Hill speedleather rig, but after years I started like to partecipate with a stock 45 govt in the concealed mode, under the jacket with a first type Summer Special. I enjoied too much, also if I come last that year.

The company moved to Boise in 1990, which makes this a 'late' holster during Milt's lifetime. Prior in Idaho City from 1972:

I, too, am a junk bin junky. I have a couple honey holes that have yielded many $100 to $200 holsters for $10 to $30. My most recent was a “as new” Galco shoulder rig for a G26/27 - $39. Last year I bundled 7 holster for $35. This bundle included a Kramer and 2 Milt Sparks, etc. Mags and grips are also found in junk bins.
