Pre-27 from 1956 with a 6.5" barrel...

What are the odds the red insert in the ramp is original? I'm thinking slim to none. Can't tell if the rear sight has the white outline. Standard hammer and trigger.

Dang, your eyes are worse than mine. No wonder you can't tell if the front sight is original.

Would the Pre 27 6.5 with red ramp insert have the white outline on the rear site? Was the white outline an option?

Check the date in the lower right hand corner.

Looking at photos and none clearly show the rear sight blade. Eyes aren't quite THAT bad.

I guess it could be original. Would probably be somewhat uncommon...

I have a friend with a pre 27, 6.5 with white outline and red ramp insert. Do you think a letter on his gun would say if they are original? When getting a letter, can you request certain info?

SP:

My 6.5" early "S" Serial Numbered 27-2 has a 6.5" barrel with a red ramp and a w/o rear sight. A lot of the 6.5" post war N-Frame 357's that I have seen have the RR - W/O configuration. Also, I have a 3.5" pre-27 with what I believe is a factory red ramp. I cannot recall if it has a w/o rear sight:
