What are you cooking for Easterday meals?

Our large family had ham for so many years that everyone grew tired of it. So a few years back my wife started hosting Easter Sunday dinner at our house with several large pans of lasagna. Everyone loves it!

Same here there will only be four of us but lasagna is one of my favorites my wife will make 2 large pans . My stepson and his girlfriend will be taking some home and we will freeze some for a quick meal or two.

Our meal for Easter is gonna be a veritable smorgasbord of foods. I will do the polska-kielbasa and hot-cross rolls to honor my Slovak heritage. It was a tradition since my father and his family landed on these shores years ago. The others we will dine with are Puerto Rican and will prepare what they hold as tradition and my wife is from the Mekong area and will prepare a pan of shrimp-fried-rice for her contribution. As I said, it will be a mix of cultures and dishes.....Happy Easter.

My wife is the youngest of five, my mother inlaw is a very good cook. When we were dating her family always had big holidays and so did my mom so food was every where.

Well today my mom is long passed, my MIL wont cook anymore, my wifes a great gal but doesnt know a frying pan from a stew pot.

Its off to the restaurant...:(

I dont even like the place were going...

Add in the inlaws that are coming, the kids lack any discipline. And I have to drive so no booze for me.

No more of my moms leg of lamb or home made Easter cream puffs.:(

I guess I could cook for it but they dont like, steak, ribs, pulled pork and burgers dont cut it for Easter.:p

No offense meant, but it sounds like someone needs to learn how to cook.

My wife is a great cook, but I was single a long time before we met, and learned by following the example of my great Uncle who told me, "If you like to eat, learn how to cook". Great advice, and I can still wrangle a decent meal when I have to.

No cooking tomorrow.

Going to a relatives house to have a Polski Easter meal, Ham, Kielbasa, boiled eggs "colored of course" horse radish, beets and (Babka "Polish Bread").

Tradition dictates a Canadian Club and Ginger after dinner.

Everyone enjoy your meals and company tomorrow.

Were having baked Ravoli's and spiral ham.

My misses made "abeats a gain" thats italian its a meat / cheese cake/pie like dish that has pepperoni, prosutto, salami, capagool, provolone cheese, farmers cheese, black pepper and scrambled eggs in it with Pizza dough crust baked.

Sorry for the bad spelling but some may understand what i'm saying on how its said. I look forward to this special treat every Easter holiday. Its only made for easter with the farmers fresh cheese.

I can't spell it but it eats good, really good.....

Ditto on the leg of lamb my mom passed too but when we were kids we always had leg of lamb too. I get lamb chops evey week and broil them with garlic I like the cheaper fatty chops.

I also like the german pot roast with the brandy a local resturant has it here sometimes. Sorry but i never ate anything besides italian growing up. This german pot roast is the bomb.

Not a huge fan of ham so I have a nice size catfish filet to go with some corn. I'll drop it in a bit of flour to give it just a little coating.

I'm smoking a ham. The sides will be baked beans, buttered taters, and my daughter is fixin some deviled eggs. The ham remnants will go into navy bean soup later this week.

Large pork loin, a bunch of those red potatoes, maybe corn on the cob and some other veggie. Remember potatoes is in its own food group. have a happy Easter to all of you. Frank

I have recently relocated to Australia and my family has not yet arrived awaiting the school year in the State's to finish. As such, and it is Easter eve here, I made a pot of chili with a mix of beef, pork and 'roo. In about 30 minutes or so I will be eating and washing it down with a XXXX beer.

We don't just like it,
WE LOVE IT!
WE LOVE IT UP HERE!:D:D:D

Mom always makes the best Lamb (with mandatory Mint Jelly) on the planet, but she's in Chicago.......so we're having a homemade meat-lover's Pizza.

It's what Jesus would eat!

We are going to my in laws house after church. She is doing a ham, my wife made the deviled eggs last night. Right now she is working on her Mac and cheese that she bakes in an iron skillet. (It is OUTSTANDING!) Mother in law will be doing a fruit and veggie tray some cooked veggies. Sister in law is bringing baked cheesy potatoes. (This family loves cheese!) Then of course there will be various deserts, cakes, pies, cookies. Good ol southern cooking at it's finest!

My wife is a fabulous cook --- today: fresh pasta (she uses heavy whipping cream and butter to make her pasta sauce along with white pepper) with fresh Gulf shrimp; Meridian glazed ham, asparagus with Hollandaise sauce, baby carrots, dirty rice, salad, rum cake, Blue Mountain coffee. And then a nap under the palm trees.

The ham remnants will go into navy bean soup later this week.

All the leftovers are one of the best things about ham. My ham remnants usually go into split pea soup, and any real meat left is trimmed and turned into ham salad.

I love ham. I really do.
But I have a hard time with serving it on Easter. I'm not Orthodox or anything...but I just can't reconcile it. LOL it is the source of many jokes around here as to how many people serve ham on Easter. I can understand it though. Traditionally it should be lamb, but we can't do lamb either.

So...we always celebrate with whatever we feel like.

This year, one child gave up pizza for Lent. Another gave up soda. Seeing how they want those things so, so much, and they go so well together...pizzas and sodas it is. Better than the year one gave up candy for Lent.
