What are you putting on the front sight?

I'm ordering an SDM fiber optic front for my 624. I chose SDM because their sight has a square top and good serrations, just like the one I have on my Glock 29.

Gold beads are classy, but don't show up as well.

So I need something other than gold bead then.... :cool:9

Well, I do, but my eyes aren't what they used to be. I have a hard time seeing a black front sight, they tent to disappear in some lighting conditions. Gold beads are better, but sometimes they are hard to find depending on the light, same with painted ones (for me).
The fiber optic fronts are the only 'no doubt about it' front sights I've found.
SDM makes the gold beads and FOs with a square top so when lighting conditions are good, you still get a precision sight picture like you do with a ramp or patridge sight.

Im use the fluorescent orange acrylic model paint obtainabe from model train shops. Clean the front sight with isopropyl alcohol to temove grease and apply one coat at a time. It is readilly removeable.

I start with a white or yellow base paint/ or nail polish then apply flourescent pink or orange paint to the front sight blade.
Then for extra protection from solvents I apply a nice coating of clear nail polish as the final layers.

586L-Frame,

What is the number on the bottle used on the SIG sights? The flash washed it out.

Thanks

Just ordered from Smith a .278 blade for my 60-15 with the red/orange inlay. I had debated the Trijicon but decided it was more important to pick up the front site in low light conditions that in the dark. Hi Viz were either too high or too low and not sufficiently rugged in my mind.
