What are your 3rd Gen goals or possibilities for 2016?

I just want a 4006 and a 3906. I am very happy with my 59, 5906 and 4506.

After decades of accumulating 3rd gen pistols, there are only two or three left that I would buy if I ran across them.

An 845 and a 4596 with the round trigger guard. And maybe a very late production 4506-1 R4 with adjustable sights and laser etched markings. Maybe.

I've actually come to the realization that I have too many handguns and need to liquidate some of them. At least get rid of some of the doubles anyway. Or buy another safe....... Regards 18DAI

Am selling my "beautiful" 4566.

4566 in beautiful condition is at the top of the 3rd Gen list.
A 3953 in good condition for a decent price is next.

The bad news is that the 3Gen list is behind my -1/-2 revolver wish list.

Have listed my 4566 ,like new with box and Hogue wooden grips on Gunbroker. Have 2 spare mags and like new original grips. Just to let you know,
Matt Mims

So far I have totally avoided buying ANY 3rd. Gen. S&W handguns. I like the first Gen. Smiths the best but I do have two second Gen. S&Ws in the safe.

My recommendation? Buy another safe! :D

Wish list includes the following:

1) 952 Longslide
2) 845
3) Shorty 45
4) RSR 645x
5) Anything unusual
God bless Texas!!! :D Not only would I never be able to find those guns in moonbat Massachusetts, but I can't import them either. :o

Of course, since I can't afford them anyway, it's probably somewhat of a moot point. :(

I've got my FFL on the lookout for a Sig P229 Legion in .357sig.
Being the unabashed Sig fanboy that I am, your post rings true. I don't want to drift the thread from a S&W 3rd Gen wish list, but a Sig P226 Legion in .357 Sig and a P220-10 10mm DA/SA are certainly on my over all list.
I only get to shoot Sigs out of my indoor range's loaner fleet since I can't afford to buy them myself (other than my Mosquito). :o

Back in November and early-December, before some harsh economic realities sunk in, I actually thought an all-metal Sig or two could possibly be in the mix for me in 2016 as my 3rd Gen collecting approached a logical stopping point. :) Well, scratch that dreaming. :o Unless I win that big lottery prize they keep talking about on the tube, there will be no all-metal Sigs for me in 2016. :(

Starting my year with a cs45
Should pick up this week
Unlike the stock market, that's an outstanding way to start the new year. :D I hope to grab one before year's end myself. :) But first, both the stock market and my pitiful shrinking IRA have got to come back to life!

Either that or I need to win the lottery! :D

While I was picking up my newly acquired Colt 45, I saw a used S&W 1076 with an extra mag. The gun looks unfired and for $600 I had to have it too. I'll be picking it up in a couple of weeks. Now I have a 1066 and a 1076.

Well this year started out with a Bang! Yuk Yuk.. I picked up my 2nd 457 in 10 days. I actually bought them the same day... but one had to travel. I plan to chose the nicer one and probably will sell the other. Per SCSW the 2 tone variation is supposed to be pretty scarce. Therefore worth more $. (Their words not mine) Does anyone know if that is still true? SCSW was last printed in 2006. New edition is due out in a few months. So the info on these may not be accurate as far as pricing and value.
Anyway.. my New year 3rd gen acquisitions...these 2 and a 915. I also have a 4506-1 enroute. Thankfully, us folk in this state don't have to wait to get our hardware. Just pay and go... stop and shop, sign and drive..
SN on the black pistol is TDPxxxx Date ?? Product code 104804 and the 2 Tone VKNxxxx The S/N for Black pistol seems really low/old for a 1996 date. I will call CS and see what they say about the actual ship dates of these 2. Also ask if the 2 tone is one of the Zanders Sports examples. The 2 tone did not come in original box so I don't have product code.

Just 2 on the lookout list right now. Both PC 4006s, the Comp and Tactical 40.

I have been a really good boy for the last couple of years. All I want from Santa this year 3rd. gen. wise is a ANIB boxed 1046! I promise to give it a good home and love it as my own. Best regards, Bob.

A few bits, like a 1006 fixed sight 10mm, a hard to find 6944 DAO 9mm and maybe even a 4014 or 4016 to convert to a 10mm.

But most certainly this....

Don't know why, but just always thought 5903 TSW's looked really cool...

.

Great choice. I have an almost new 5943 TSW that I bought last year that is drop dead sexy.

Ps: anyone that is looking for a mint CS9 pm me.

After shooting the heck out of my 5903 for two years, I'm transitioning to a CZ SP-01 as my primary 9mm. The 5903 is a great gun, but the all steel CZ is better suited to nightstand duty with it's accessory rail and range use with it's steel frame than my light 5903. I had been on the hunt for a 5903 or 5906 TSW, but their rarity, high selling price, and slowly growing obsolescence made me look to a still-produced design. The 5903 will probably be sold to my buddy with the 5906 who introduced me to these fine guns many years ago.

That being said, I might be on the look out for a 3906. My wife is interested in shooting now that we're married, so I'm starting her off on a recently purchased Model 17-3 and my .38 Special 67-1. Eventually I'll get her shooting automatics, and the slim stainless 3906 will probably fit her small hands well. The alternative would be SIG's new P225A1, especially if they introduce one with a rail.

As far as S&W autos, I've always liked the first and second gen 39s and a friend has a 539 that he thinking about selling. He wants something with a 15 round mag. We'll see. . .

I recently acquired a pretty nice 669, but with my eyes aging the front sight is taking longer and longer to pick up. I'm working on basically converting the 669 to a 6906.

Wouldn't you know it...

Wouldn't you know it! One of my favorite local dealers just got in a Model 4506-1 with factory box and 3 magazines. I've been waiting years for a decent used Model 4506-1 w/box to appear here for sale in moonbat Massachusetts! Let's be honest: I had given up all hope. I'd crossed it off my list... twice, in fact... and so now one finally appears!

There are, however, two very major problems:

  1. The price... $699.95+Tax!   and,
  2. Me being broker than broke right now. :(
Sad to say but this is not going to fly. :( The 2016 market crash has devastated my pitiful little IRA and I am still thousands in short-term debt after last year's acquisitions. :( There's not even any room left on my gosh-darned credit cards. :(

This is a perfect example of the (very bad) luck of TTSH!!!

Anyway, I hope someone worthy gets it. :o Someone on the forum hopefully. :o And I hope it is worth its asking price. That's a lot of money so the condition had better be worth it.

if he is one of your favorite dealers.... are you not one of his favorite customers?:D...why not do the lay-away thing??;)....and a -1 model in nice shape with all the factory goodies in a restrictive state that you cannot obtain without the instate pedigree is not priced out of line IMO...;)

It isn't just my favorite shop. :) It's everybody's favorite shop in Massachusetts. :D

And at that price, I'm pretty certain it's a consignment gun... meaning the owner set the price and layaway isn't an option. Even if it is a shop-owned gun, the owner would never give me the time I'd need to come up with that much cash or room on the credit cards. :(

Unless I change gears and decide to sell something (which is on hold for now after the "EA"), the budget says no more new acquisitions until mid-April or possibly late March... but that's for a typical "something-under-$500" purchase. For a $699+Tax purchase, I'm looking at May or worse. :(

It ain't gonna happen. :o God does not want me to own a Model 4506-1. :(

That's not too much money. That's a little high if you look at sold auctions but with original case . Not at all out of line. I paid $600 for 1 like that 3 years ago. $700 shipped and fees for 1 I have enroute right now. Case, -1, 3 mags. So except for $$ don't let price stop you.. Also layaway and trading or selling can be your friend.

Oh, if I had the money I would go for it (assuming that condition justified the price tag). :o I'm just too far underwater right now and with the market tanking I don't dare take another "emergency" distribution from the IRA. :( My wife would up and leave me!!! With plenty of justification!!! :(

The decision I made after the "EA" not to sell anything for a while still stands. In fact, I'm glad I didn't sell what I had planned to sell before Dec 31. For the time being, I'm holding onto everything in the collection. :) Let's put it this way: With the market tanking crazy bad right now... guess what are my very best investments? :D

++++++++

ETA: The $699.95 Model 4506-1 sold on Friday. :) Looks like it didn't even last 24 hours after being listed. ;) It's just as well for me since it would have driven me crazy every time I checked the dealer's used gun list. :p Now I can relax! :D -ttsh

I have probably got all the third gens I'll be able to justify: a 3913 (early production) and a 3913LS (late). Same for the other Smiths I have: 642, 13-3, and c.1930 M&P. What more does a guy need? Yeah, need has nothing to do with it, unless you have a budget to keep to.

Got a kid in college, another on the way there, and we're teachers.

Stumbled across both of the 3913's in the same shop, 12 months apart. Sold a rifle and a bunch of ammo for it to buy the first one in 2014, traded a pistol I had quit using for the second in 2015. Don't have anything left I'm willing to give up as a trade, and don't have any money to spare.

The list of "I wants it" is still there: a 4506, 4513, and 39 would be lovely, as would another model 10. But I'm probably only going to buy magazines, loading components, limited amounts of ammo, and holster making supplies this year.
