RK is pretty much all we have here. Mostly I just go as a customer, but I have rented tables from time to time. Good folks to deal with. They try hard to accommodate the dealers as best they can, but are sticklers for the rules. Guns tied, no loose ammo, etc. Which I think is a good thing.
The only down side is that they will rent tables to anybody. So you do get your share of jerky and junk. Things being what they are these days, I can't blame them for trying to make a buck.
One thing I want to point out is that is that the promoters only provide the venue. How good or bad a show is depends entirely on the dealers who decide to show up. I've noticed over the last few years that fewer and fewer dealers are going the gun show route. Shows that used to sell out now have a good bit of empty space. Dealers who you used to see regularly just don't come anymore. The panic is over and the market is down. Believe me its a whole lot of work to drag a bunch of stuff to a show, set it up, sit there all weekend and then haul it all back home. It seems that many of what used to be regular dealers at shows don't find it worth the effort anymore.
Last weekend I went to the Jackson, TN show which is a RK Show. Usually this is a very good show. There were lots of accessories, ammo, mags, etc. But not that many actual gun dealers. I've noticed that this is starting to become the pattern.
Gun shows just ain't what they used to be.
