I'm not certain if the irregularities will affect the cycling or not? Would you buy it based on the star?
Thank you, Dave

I would pass on that one. Reckon we'd like to know what model it is however, though in noting the seven holes, that narrows it down quite a bit.
Probably new enough to get parts for it.

The only way I know how to check a Revolver's timing is in person with the gun in my hand. Looks on some parts mean very little. The only surface that really matters is the surface that mates with the Hand. That will determine if lock up and carry up is within spec.

If you don't understand how to check this out, bring someone with you who does. Unless you can physically check this out, I would not but the revolver unless you have the ability and willingness to replace and fit a new one. IMHO this part lasts quite a while and so if that part is worn it is likely other parts are well worn too. Since it's pretty dirty, it's hard to see in your picture. Again, the proof is in an in-hand check by a knowledgable person.

Oh - just wanted to mention that fitting a new one takes experience, knowledge and the proper tools. Since this is a 7 shot revolver the part may be more difficult to find.

Even if that revolver is in time, the beat up star says it's in time for a relatively short time period.

I would pass, regardless of brand.

FWIW, I have owned a fantastic Taurus. The most accurate revolver I have ever had the pleasure to shoot. It was a Tracker 22lr, and I was foolish to sell it.

I'd run not walk away from a revolver whose extractor looked like that. Looks as though bubbasmith has been at work on that one.
