Total Titanium 45 Long Colt weighing in at 20 ounces is my favorite

Very easy to carry all day

You have to Love a Hollow Point that you can drop a 22 into :D

Sweet, I have some of those loaded in my Taurus Judge Magnum too.

Taurus? I have the 617 TTi. 7 Shots of 357 goodness in basically the same size and weight package. ;)

I carried issued .45 ACP pistols for a lot of years, and spent much of my off duty time shooting/carrying pistols in .40, 10mm Auto, and .45 as well. I really never considered them to be “big bore” handguns although I realize that they technically are based on bore diameter. To me however, a true big bore is a very powerful handgun along the lines of a .44 Magnum or higher power factor.

With that said, I no longer own any such handguns, and am fully confident in my 9mm to do anything that I need a handgun to do for me.

Springfield Armory Elite Champion 45acp. Pretty much every day. On occasion a Taurus PT 24/7c 45acp since it fits in my coat pocket

I feel like this thread is due for a revival, so here goes...

I was actually planning to purchase a M&P45 for this coming Winter, but as usual, I found a better deal on a M&P40c, so .40 S&W remains my big bore carry cartridge.

I have a feeling 10mm Auto might be receiving at least a few more votes this year.

Over the last six months I've been carrying my RIA 1911 Tactical .460 Rowland with V2 in a ghost concealment belly band holster that carries the weight close to the body, plus concealed suspenders to allow a looser waist fit to accommodate the carry setup extending inside the waistband. I alternate carrying factory Underwood 185 grain JHP clocked at 1,613fps/1,069fpe (1.4KJ) from this gun using Doppler radar, and handloads using Lehigh Defense 120 grain "Defender" solid copper slugs at 1,900fps/962fpe (1.3KJ).
One thing about the concealment belly band carry is I can wear it under lightweight athletic shorts and a loose T-shirt when working around and outside the house, and the scumbag who decides to stroll up because I have the garage door up trying to get some welding done, has no idea I'm packing a cannon just out of sight!

I won't mention the AR-15 I always have just out of sight whenever I'm working in the garage with the door up, because everyone else probably does that as well.

Just recently I decided to try the V2 damper in my SA Mil-Spec running .45 Super with no comp and an 11# recoil spring. Underwood's 185gr. JHP clocked 1,315fps/710fpe (960 joules), and my handloads pushing the Hornady 185 XTP at 1,340fps/737fpe (1KJ). Recoil is about on par with 230gr. hardball with little muzzle flip. The VIS is as crisp as the day it was machined, and close inspection of the bottom lug, recoil lugs and slide lugs reveal no peening or deformation. The V2 is designed to stop the slide just shy of M2M contact and it seems to do just that!

I tested these loads on a turkey with a large can of Campbell's soup placed inside and the turkey was blown apart as if a grenade went off inside! The bullet ruptured a water filled jug on the other side and bounced off the next jug and was found "everted" - literally turned inside out with the nose petals fragmented off, probably inside the turkey parts. I call that optimal performance for urban defense against bipedal predators.

p.s. My wife was more upset that I'd wasted a can of tasty, chunky sirloin burger, than the 15 pound turkey I blew apart!

My EDC is a 45 GAP

My homestead carry is a 41mag. But I voted other since the GAP gets 90% of the carry time.

Okay, that's actually pretty cool. I know a lot of folks like to dump on .45 GAP, but in all fairness, it's not a bad cartridge in terms of performance since it's pretty much just .45 ACP in a shorter case, and assuming ammo for it is easily accessible, that can obviously be a pretty big advantage during shortages because it's not a common carry cartridge.

.41 Magnum is a similar deal. Good cartridge, perhaps even an excellent cartridge considering how powerful it is, just not a common carry cartridge.

Out of curiosity, what attracted you to these cartridges? Did you just happen to find a killer deal on Police trade-ins on them or what? I'm not criticizing your choice either, I'm just genuinely curious.

I myself got into .40 S&W because of police trade-ins, and thusly I'm no stranger to the annoyance of folks asking dumb questions like; "y u no carry 9 dont u no it just as gud + moar bullitz?!"
