What did this box contain

I have this early Smith Wesson Bangor Punta box that I got from a buddies estate a few years ago. Just wondering what model revolver did it contain originally? 15x 4 3/4"

I thought about looking to trade it for a 1980s "revolver" box for an L frame 4"

I don't think we have enough information to determine what specific model came in that box. Is there an end label or any other markings? Even handwritten markings could be helpful.

In my opinion, all we can say based on the information, is the range of years and an assortment of models that may have used those boxes.

Something with a long barrel, at least.

Likely for an 8 3/8" K frame, most likely a model 14 but possibly a 17 or 48.
