what do you guys think of model 13's

Well, mine doesn't look special in any way, but it's probably the last gun I would part with. I know I'm probably supposed to like my 19's and 28's better, but I don't...

I like how you have yours set up!:D
Do you have any more photos of that holster? From what I can see it looks like an el passo 77.

I bought a new 3" M13 in blue for my then GF

back then the the 3" 13 was FBI issue & was not always available. When we split up, I offered to buy it back from her. She declined. I had to console myself by buying a 3" M66. Just a fine handling gun.

Yes. it's an EPS #77 Tortilla, with a few miles on it. Actually, I think the only refinement the setup needs is a set of Grashorn's elk stocks; I'm in the process of rectifying that now.

That's a great looking setup, it would look awesome with stags. thanks for posting
I just ordered a carved rig for my 4" nframes and went with street combat #88, its only been a month but I'm checking the mail everyday... Lol

Should be arriving any time. My tanker from EPS was about 5 weeks. They make an excellent product.

You've done it now. Hit the range with a K frame and a fist full of .38's and you might be giving those .44's a rest. More fun than a barrel of monkeys. I'll wager that one won't be your last.:D

The three inch, round butt, Model 13/65 is about the best concealed carry gun ever made, IMO. It's my EDC.

Model 13s and Model 65s are everything you need in a .357 magnum revolver and nothing else

Yep, in four inch, square butt, they make the best service sidearm there ever was, and in three inch, round butt, they make the best concealed carry sidearm there ever was.

The gun might be valued, but I wonder how many are shooting full up 357 Magnum ammo. When people rave about their bonding with a smaller 357, it is often later revealed that they use it as a 38 Special.

I unabashedly admit to using my 13 primarily as a strong .38 special, instead of a full-house .357. For the most part, I just don't need that much drama in my life.

Well yeah, 38 Special for range use and 357 loaded for self defense, doesn't get any better!

It took me a long time to find a 3" Model 13 in CA. Occasionally a worn 4" square butt gun surfaces which I presume are ex-police guns but the 3" RB guns are expensive when you find them.

Yes but so worth it when you can. There are many good reasons to live here in California but our insanely crafted gun laws are not one of them.

Joined the Model 13 club yesterday

Dropped by the local Pawn shop yesterday to see if they had anything interesting and lo and behold they had recently got a 13-3 4" in on a trade deal. While not pristine, it looks like it had been carried alot but shot very little. There is holster wear on the end of the barrel and just a bit of freckling here and there on the cylinder with a slight turn line there also.
No box or papers, but that's not a major concern as I bought it to shoot, I shoot all my guns, none are safe queens.
They were asking $450, I offered $350 and 15 minutes later I walked out with it.
Once I got it home I cleaned it up, took a really close look at the bore and chambers and found them to be almost perfect.
Pretty happy with my purchase and plan on taking it out this afternoon and running a few boxes of .38's and .357's thru it.
Serial Number is AJM 27XX, just wondering if anyone here can give me a ballpark idea on when it was built?
I hope to edit this post later on today and add some pictures and a range report.
Any and all replies/ input/ advice would be much appreciated!

I have a solution; Buffalo bore's short barrel low flash loads for .357 magnum. Somewhere in the power range between 9x19 and .357 magnum. Lots of power, less drama as someone else suggested.

I see these fairly frequently at gun shows with $400-$500 price tags, depending upon condition. Most were former LE revolvers. There were at least two problems. Many departments did not allow use of .357 ammo in them (for PR purposes), and the semi-autos were taking over the LE market in the 1980s. Therefore, the 13 did not have a long production lifespan. If I had one, I'd probably use nothing but .38 Special ammo, which is what I do with my other .357s.
