On a bad day?
A 75 by 125 mile sized nickle/iron asteroid hitting me squarely in the forehead.
On a good day?
Having a Vodka Martini, while seeing a 35 to 45 year old woman wearing a skirt!

I pray to thank God for all the things that I have and all the things that He has given me in my life...wife kids, used to be a good job now retirement, grandkinds.
I ask God to watch over my "flock" and to give them each the wisdom to conduct themselves in a way that would be appropriate.
I ask God to bless the sick and afflicted the world over. I asked Him to put his hand over all of our solders/sailors/airmen serving to protect this great nation. But I pray even harder for Him to give the leaders that make the decisions for each and everyone of us to be strong in their convictions when they make those decisions.
I also pray for the health and safety of my family and right now I'm praying really hard that my docotr doesn't tell me this morning that the infection in my incision is so bad that he is going to remove the implanted pain pump.
I usually pray 3 or 4 times a day with the last one of the day being the most "in-depth".

I am no pastor, just another pilgrim trying to make progress.
I don't ask for blessings, I am so blessed every day.
I don't ask for safety, because I don't imagine that God is my personal air-traffic-controller.
I try not to put "God in a box," as we so often do.
I do pray that He gives me and those around me the wisdom and understanding that I/we need to have, and that our undertakings give Him the glory.
I am thankful for each and every day that I live, for each day lived is a blessing- no matter what the circumstances. I have blessings uncountable and I know I take many for granted.
I do pray for family, friends, leaders (yes, our President too) and co-workers (current and retired)- so that they may know Christ, and that they have the wisdom and knowledge recalled to them so that they make the right decisions for us and our posterity.
I know that this is a forum of many diverse beliefs and holdings, and even though I may not agree with those held by others, I respect other people.
Quite notably, this thread came up...
Today is the National Day of Prayer.

I generally don't pray for God to do things for me, I pray for guidance so that I may do the right things for myself and my family.

I'm Catholic. Yesterday I said a Rosary for my son Brian who took his own life at 17 years of age. I prayed that he was finally at peace, and also that he forgive me for not being there when he needed me most. Yesterday was the eight years aniversary of that day.
God bless you marine2541. I pray for forgiveness, to give thanks for all my wonderful blessings, for courage and strength, safe journey, and to help me be a better man tomorrow than I was today. Then some prayers for people I know who need praying for.

I give thanks for all that we have been given, for the atoning sacrifice of His Son; for this beautiful world and all that is in it, for the people (friends, family, neighbors) that we are fortunate enough to associate with; and that we may be good examples to them, and that we can be good people; forgiven of our weaknesses and sins, and try to be better examples to others, and be helpful to others. Oh yeah, and for peace.
