first off, I would like to say hello...this is my first post. glad to be part of your wonderful forum. now, on to the 'what gives' part...I just bought my third M&P .40, but for some reason, this one does not have the 'stainless' stamped on the left side of the slide...why not, and does anyone else have one without the stamp...it IS still stainless, correct? pretty sure it is, but I will be pretty disappointed if not...anyways, is there a reason for this? I bought my first one the day they were made available, and my second one last year. the third one, which I got last week, has a 2011 date on the spent casing packet(but is brand new)...and the serial number starts with 'DVR41**' any info would be greatly appreciated! thanks. and to the 'ORIGINAL' Rick M...sorry to borrow your name, kinda...but I am Rick M as well....so I just thought it would be kinda funny to use this user name, hope that is all good with you!

This question has come up quite a few times in this and other forums, and I think the consistent answer is that the slides are still stainless, S&W just doesn't stamp them "stainless" any longer. My M&P 40 fullsize, bought in October 2012, isn't marked stainless, either.

thank you both very much for your replies! that makes me feel better!

Just a suggestion... Make the title to a post a bit more informative. If you look around you will see the titles are normally made so that a person can decide by the title if they're interested. What gives....? and Who makes...? could mean anything. Thanks and BTW, welcome to the site. :D
