I have a 19-5 with a 2.5 inch bbl and have a 19-3 2.5inch on layaway at my local shop. I got a good deal on it because it has those ugly arse Pachmayr grips on it. That is a no go for me. I am gonna buy some replacement grips from the S&W store. I am either gonna get the stock magnas or a set of Smith wood combat grips. I normally am a all stock guy and prefer the grips that would have come on e the gun originally but since my wife seems to be adopting my M60 I may wind up carrying the 19-3. Being that this may become a carry gun for me I think the combats would be a nice touch. Just curious as to what the gallery thinks as far as magnas vs combat on a 2.5 19-3?

Carry Gun...Magnas with a Tyler Grip Adapter

Try Magna grips with a Tyler grip adapter. Great for control and concealment.
Personally I would go aftermarket and get a pair of Spegel boot grips. They give you great control (full grip) without compromising concealment.
A pair on my Model 547 in Birdseye Maple.

My 3 favorite options:

Standard magnas - love the looks

Standard magnas with a Tyler grip adapter - love the feel

Hogue Bantams - love the comfort

Works for me! :)

I'm assuming these 2-1/2-inchers are both round butt? Personally I would scout around for a couple sets of the Spegel-designed Uncle Mike boot grips. I have several sets for my RB j-frames and love them. They're out of production now but can be found on ebay or places like our own for sale forum. The uncle mikes p/n for the RB k-frame boots is 59014. They also made them for the SB k-frame: p/n 59011.

Chris,
I must say, you have very good taste!:D

Thank you. I must say, you also have good taste!!

My 19-6 with Ahrends retro Combats and the original Magnas. You lose a little concealability but there is quite a difference in shoooting comfort.Really love to have S&W Combats but for the money these are very nice.

iIve found that for a short barreled carry gun, one wants a grip that gives a natural point of aim, which of course is different for each of us. For me it's the rubber Hogue combat grips and i've tried a bunch of grips over the years.
