We all have our holy grails. And we have frivolous desires. And there are things we'd just like to try. What are some of yours?

My holy Grail is a deep blue pre-lock model 27 in 6" or 4".

I'd also like a 745, a stub-nose 28 or 29, an M1 Garand, a Glock47, a CZ75, a high end stainless 1911, a 1911 in 45ACP, a PCC of some type, a walther PPK (a Bond gun).

The reason I don't have all of these is that I'm a bargain hunter. It's hard for me to justify the cost to buy my holy grail. The enjoyment I get out of guns is significant..... But not enough to justify the cost of a say, a model 27 in fine condition. Finding a bargain is part of the fun, I guess.

I have a couple that I want that don't make a whole lotta sense, but I still want em!

1. Browning BAR Lightweight Stalker. It's matte finish metal with black synthetic stock. Matches the lines of the Safari II. Want it in .338 mag. Have had several opportunities at New, Old Stock guns in .300win, .30-06, and a .270wsm. Holding out for a good clean one in .338. Why? Dunno. Just want one.

2. Good clean Marlin 5510. Bolt action 10ga. Again, no real need, just want one to play with. Have seen a few, either beat to hell or wildly over priced.

Whats nice about the above examples are they are WANTS not NEEDS and I can afford to be choosy.

I'm still looking for a Nickel, 6.5" M-24. Only been doing it since May but it's the last gun I'm looking for. Apparently they are almost as scarce as a Micky Mantle card. I know a few fortunate individuals here have let me know they have one. There is an excellent chance that I will never be among them. Bummer but that's life.

I’m maxed out. Enjoy looking but no longer in the market for anything specific.

Most likely be starting to sell off items in the near future.

I would love to have a Colt Officers Model Target or Match. The 22 magnum or 38 Special (or both if the truth be known).

Rifle, would like to have an AR-10, but any accessories would have to be added.

I have always felt the joy is in the quest and it’s a little letdown when I actually get what I am pursuing.

I'll know it when I see it and I'll get it at a price I am willing to pay. That hasn't changed much since my first purchase the day it became legal for me to buy a gun. That was 57 years ago on my next birthday. Ben through a couple hundred cars, most of them were wrecked and I resurrected them. 59 Corvette, 67 383 Formula S Barracuda coupe. 1937 Ford 5 window coupe. Chopped and channeled 50 Dodge Businessman's coupe on a Datsun pickup frame with a 240Z drivetrain. Owned about every gun you can imagine, way too many to list here. Got some deals that if they were any better it would be theft but never stole anything from anybody.
Times have changed and the deals are drying up with laws changing so ownership costs have skyrocketed. The internet has killed most sales like a $15 Model 48 Mauser, or a box of gun parts that cost me $20 and sold for $400. Knowledge is no longer enough in the information age but I don't need to drive thousands of miles a year searching for super good deals either.

I kind of just like going to town and seeing what's out there. Right now, I'm on a revolver kick. But not really looking for anything particular. If I found a 2 1/2" 19 or 66 or even a 4" 29 at a reasonable price, I'd be all over it.

Ithaca Mdl 37 in 20ga, modified choke. The fancier grade with vent rib and decent wood in the stock.
