My biggest regret was not one of my S+W but my very first handgun. A Royal Blue 4 inch Colt Python. I actually traded it for a new S+W 586 plus $100 cash. Very foolish, as I should have kept it, and just bought the 586.

6 - 7 years ago I was in a rabid/foaming at mouth 1911 craze. Sold my 3" M66 that I had always enjoyed. What a dumb move. They make M1911's everyday and now I have a bunch. M66 3 inchers don't grow on trees though.......

I don't regret any, and I've sold quite a few rifles and handguns.

If I decide to sell it, it means I'm not attached to it. If I had to fund something in an emergency, there are many shooter grade guns that would go before the ones I "can't live without".

Overall, I have come to become less attached to material objects. You can't take any of it with you, so shoot them and enjoy. Once in a while I go through a "selling phase" to add more of what I enjoy. I was an avid rifle shooter for 10 years, over the past year I sold most of my 100+ piece rifle collection so I could pay off debt, and in the process added more S&W and Ruger handguns to my collection.

I don't live my life in the rear view mirror, you can only look forward, not back. Don't dwell on selling something that you were attached to, just think about what you may get in the future that you like as much if not more.

2 (yes, 2) Bulgarian Makarovs. Sold one to finance divorce, traded the other for something I thought I liked better

2 (yes, 2) Brazilian-contract S&W 1917. Both were shooters, but man, were they cool!!! Traded off for something stupid

Blue-Sky Inland m-1 carbine. Bought for $200 when they were first brought in. It was a shooter, but a fun gun.

S&W 6904. Awesome little 9mm compact pistol. Loaned it to a "friend" who promptly disappeared.

Its late and that all I can remember right now

with regrets

I regret selling my S&W model 686 stainless steel 4 inch revolver. I bought it brand new. I fired hundreds and hundreds of rounds through that gun. Handled like a dream. When times are bad and the moneys not coming in we all have to make that differcult choice to sell or not to sell. Its life i guess. It sucks.

As far as S&Ws go a 645 i purchased in 87 and a 29 classic hunter that was a davidsons exclusive. All others an HK91 that I got xmas 85 sold in 91 before they went crazy in price.

Not a 'Smith but a Colt 32-20 Police Positive that an old neighbor gave me for fixing a pipe under her house. I just had to have a semi auto....... Traded for a lousy gun (Tanfoglio .380) and made a stupid move. Young, Dumb, and Full of ***. ; (

Sorry I sold my S&W Model 13-2 (.357 magnum). Fortunately, I sold it to my son-in-law so if I want to shoot it, it's still there for me. Just wish I still had it at home!

No regrets for me.

I bought new & then sold a 2" 10 and a Colt Agent(? - alloy one) back in the day, but frankly, I like my 3" and 4" 10's, 36 and 60 a lot better than those. I traded a 6" 686-1 for a 4" 686-4 and like the 4" one a LOT better. Everything else - I gave several away. sold others - I don't miss at all.

The only gun I ever regretted selling was my first handgun.

It was a S&W 645. I bought it when they first came out in the mid 80's.

I replaced it a couple of years ago, though, so it's alright.

So far, I haven't sold any other guns that I would be sorry about later.

I tend to keep most of them, and only sell or trade to upgrade.

I had a S&W Model 39-2 that had FTE problems many (25+) years ago. Only had it for a few years and tripped it. Should have kept it and figured it out because it was very accurate. Life goes on......

Seriously, Ruger MkII .270 My 1st Bolt Rifle.
Winchester Ranger 12 ga. My 1st Shotgun from Dad.

Maybe my 686-1, Shopping tomorrow!

Like many others, ALL OF THEM. But three relatively recent ones really sting.

In 2008 I purchased a 1974 Norton Commando that I wanted to restore and "decided" that I needed to recoup my cash outlay, so I stupidly sold:

An ANIB original 1997 S&W PC 627 5" 8-shot for $800
An unfired mint NIB original 1999 S&W PC 627 2" "Bloodwork" UDR for $900
An ANIB 1 of 300 1999 Lew Horton S&W 610 3" for $800

Today, these three revolvers combined will easily fetch well over $4000.

Ive since purchased a few other rare S&W revolvers that partially make up for my blunder, but never again will I sell a collectible gun to finance something else.
