What has happened to men's jeans

Riggs by Wrangler for me. Gusseted crotch and a leather patch on the right front pocket for your knife clip. I like their ripstop pants too, with the same features.

I used to like Levi's 501 with the button fly, but the saddle shop where I used to buy them doesn't carry them any more, and I heard somewhere that they are now favored by the guys on the other team, not that there's anything wrong with that.

The same thing that has happened to men in general - they are skinnier, weaker, less rugged, and look more like the female version.....

Sorry, but THOSE... aren't men. They're something else. Not sure what, but they definitely aren't men. ;)

I'm a Wrangler guy, always have been. When I was a kid, there was no such thing as "pre washed"-"stone washed", blah, blah, blah, and good denim was as stiff as a board. I had jeans that were 10 years old and looked better than new ones they sell today. Presently, they seem to be designed by and made to fit some peculiar human specimens unfamiliar to me. Apparently, human anatomy has changed.

On the subject.....a beautiful woman with a knockout figure once filled a pair of Wranglers and could stop traffic at a busy intersection. Today, I can see their underwear above the waistline they're so low and the cut of the clothing does nothing to flatter their figure. Hell man, they might just as well wear a burlap bag. I live in jeans, pretty much these days except for funerals and weddings (more of the former and fewer of the latter presently) so I'm particular 'bout what all. I think many of jeans designed by them people, over thar', are made to show off "body art". I don't like tatoos on Women folk at all or excessive body piercing neither. They look like they belong in the damn circus.

I have a couple pair of bib overalls, right handy. When they were new, 40 years or so ago, you could wash 'em and stand them up in a corner to dry. Nowadays, they been broke in good, you 'ole boys know just what that means.

Cheers;
Lefty

I'm sick of this "skinny jean" fad. I found a pair of jeans that I liked and bought two pairs. A year later I went back to the same store and bought the same brand in the same size... But they didn't fit because the jeans are being slimmed down in the legs to be all girly. Luckily I found the normal jeans on the discount rack since they were going out of.... "style". I'm a fan of boot cut, not ankle hugging.

I wish there were more 33" waists around. I wear a 32 but buy a 34 for carrying. A 33 would work much better.

Like some here, I've been living in my jeans for over 50 years and have worn out a few dozen pair. Obviously, I am too old to care about looking like a tv ad model- in fact, the more ads I see, the more I know the product costs too much (someone has to pay for the ads - mot me.)

I buy for quality and comfort. The first thing I look for in a jean is "relaxed" or "loose" fit, the second is that the jean must have at least 14+oz material (the more meat to the cloth, the better the stitches hold), and lastly the jean MUST not be "stone washed".

Everyone has their favorite but usually, I can find what I want in a Cabela's Roughneck Jean for about $30 or less. For work in my home shop, I choose Carhartt dungarees. Got some that are over 20 years old but then, my wife has a strong sewing machine with several packets of denim needles 8^) .

I quit buying Levi's years ago when they made their lefty political stance known. Arizona jeans have been just fine since then (no, I don't know their politics and would like to keep it that way).

Op- the bigger question is what the heck happened to masculinity in general? :( Girly jeans are just a symptom of the real problem.

Thanks for posting that. I thought it was just me. I remember when a new pair of Levis would stand up on the floor by itself. Whe you wallet would fit against your buttocks instead of sag down below them. I will try a pair of LEE jeans and see how they fit.

What I can't believe is all the guys that wear girls jeans. All that fancy, schmancy stitching and appliques or whatever the heck they call that girly stuff on the pockets... Some people's kids...

I wear Carhartt double front with jail-house knee pads in them for work, play, hunt, whatever - up around my waist, not around my knees.

I wore Levis for 50 years or so but switched over to Carhart a couple of years ago. I wear their "traditional fit" jeans, they start out comfortable, fit like they should, wear like iron and the price isn't too bad. I'm done with Levi!

At 81 yoa, 6', 155lbs,

I have not been able to find acceptable jeans for several years. Carharts are the best I can do.:(

No man should ever wear skinny jeans... ever. I'll tell you what it tells other people is that you aren't carrying as there is no way you could even fit a pocket knife.

That is not the only thing it is telling them about you.

I've worn Levi's all my life and for the past several years, unhappily. My wife usually restocks my jeans as needed on birthdays or Christmas. She recently gifted me a couple pairs if 505's (below the waist), which i hate and told me I needed to quit dressing like an old man. I asked her to never buy me jeans again, ha ha.

I bought a pair of wranglers earlier this week and liked them so much I went back for two more pair. I have officially made the switch.

Target = $15.99

I quit wearing Levis back in the late 80's when they came out of the closet. I wore Gap for a while, then Wrangler. They were both okay,..when I had an ***. but the ***-mass seems to have migrated front and north. I am trying to find investors for a new brand of denim pants called 'NABBS'; No ***, Beer Belly. I.P.O.?

I quit wearing jeans years ago and switched to cargo trousers. I noticed jeans weren't built for working men anymore but skinny little dudes with no ***, fashion model types. I was thinking of trying a pair of them "ball-room" jeans cuz I got a long rise and a man sized ***, but I would still have to cope with my wallet in the back pocket and that plays hell with my back when seated. The reason I switched to cargo trousers was mainly due to the wallet issue, that and the fact they are usually built with more room for "free movement."

never been a fan of Levi's always liked Wrangler 13mwz or sometimes the relaxed fit version of the cowboy cut wrangler jeans. Still prefer the plain rigid indigo.
