What is a S&W 2 1/2?

Hi There,


I was reading a book and there was a reprint of a Smith and
Wesson add from 1880's and there was something in it that
made me sit-up and take notice. I underlined the line that
was of interest. See Pic.

Interesting ad. My guess is that the advertisement was not from S&W but rather for S&W authored and printed by a store or distributor. I have an 1882 S&W poster that shows all models made at the factory, but no Model 2 1/2.

I believe you are correct. This is just a mistake but I thought
