What is your favorite Christmas song?

Mine is Doug stone's sailing home for Christmas. If you have not heard it check it out on YouTube.
Here are the lyrics to the song. Merry Christmas.

They looked out their windows at the ocean that surrounds them
In the service of their country, sailing to a foreign shore.
Tomorrow will be Christmas, and they wish that they could be home.
Their wives and children need them, but their country needs them more.
But they'll be sailing home for Christmas, sailing home for Christmas,
Where a welcome candle in the window gleams.
They'll be sailing home for Christmas, sailing home for Christmas,
Sailing home for Christmas in their dreams.
Tomorrow, they'll serve turkey and they'll sing the Christmas carols,
They'll talk about their families, their mothers and their sons.
It's the strangest contradiction, singing songs of peace and sharing
As they man the battle weapons, hoping war will never come.
But they'll be sailing home for Christmas, sailing home for Christmas,
Where a welcome candle in the window gleams.
They'll be sailing home for Christmas, sailing home for Christmas,
Sailing home for Christmas in their dreams.
And maybe someday they won't have to be there anymore,
When we all start to live the things we have Christmas for.
They'll be sailing home for Christmas, sailing home for Christmas,
Where a welcome candle in the window gleams.
They'll be sailing home for Christmas, sailing home for Christmas,
Sailing home for Christmas in their dreams.

I have a bunch that I like. Anything by the Carpenters, especially "Home for the Holidays" Pretty much anything by Deano, and I really like the duet version of "Little Drummer Boy" by Bing and David Bowie. Plus a bunch more I can't think of at the moment. But I have one...and don't laugh...that I have to hear at the beginning of the season before I really get in the mood for Christmas. And it is...drumroll please..."Santa Claus is Coming to Town" by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Politics aside, something about that song has gotten me "in the mood" for the past 30 years. Can't really say why, either.

I'm sure that..

As a retired postal employee, we made the South Park Christmas Time in Hell our unofficial Christmas song.

...my recently retired postal lady wife knows that one. Some one said that under the postmasters desk, there was a stairway to hell.

BTW: A friend of ours sang 'O Holy Night' every year at church for a long long time. I love all manner of Christmas/Advent songs but that one is kinda special.

For the 'popular' ones "White Christmas" is hard to beat. I always like hearing 'Sleigh Ride'. DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA WHACK! DA DA

"Do You Hear What I Hear" is another essential.

"Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silent" always gives me goose bumps.

About everything in 'Messiah' gives me goose bumps. Being a tenor, of course I like 'Every Valley Shall Be Exalted', but listening to a bass doing "For He Is Like A Refiner's Fire' REALLY blows me away.

I like singing, "Angels We Have Heard On High", the vocal parts are FUN!

The WORDS to 'We Three Kings" lay me out. My Dad had an old Firestone or Goodyear record where the verses were sung by different people and introduced by a Narrator........"AND MELCHIOR SPOKE!" Lord have mercy.

Angels from the Realms of Glory.

Closing out Christmas night, though,

Stille Nacht and O Little Town of Bethlehem.

I consider the Christmas season a success if I can get through it without hearing Crosby groan "White Christmas".

This was a successful Christmas season.

On the other hand, I love the duet Crosby did with David Bowie of "Little Drummer Boy". The two voices melded beautifully.
