What is it With the Three Inch 357 Mag's...?

Beautiful pistols everyone. For me it's all visual, it just looks "right". So much in fact that a 3" 686 will be my very first revolver. Will I buy other length barrels? Absolutely. But the 3" really just looks perfect IMO. Cannot wait to receive mine and take it to the range.

In high-school my buddy had a .44 Colt Python and to this day still remember how it felt. There is something really special about a revolver.

So...I have a dumb question. If the majority of revolver fans agree that the 3" .357 is the holy grail, the perfect balance, etc...why is it that S&W currently only offers 6 models in that configuration...2 Model 60s and 4 Model 586/686s? And why tease people with a 2.75 inch 66, and not just go all the way with a 3" version? Why not offer more of a variety in 3"?

Because only "wise, experienced...... old guys" truly understand.........

When I bought my first 3" 65 and and later my 66s (1886-89)...... you couldn't give them away.
Everyone wanted a gun with 15 round or more up it's butt!!!

Today IMHO it's ......light weight striker fired plastic or how small can you make it mentality prevails.

Today folks are also "discovering" the 3913/14/NL single stack 9mm.

With age come experience and understanding of the "Goldie Locks principle".... some things are too big.... some too small;

and some....."are just right"!!!!!!!!

:D
