I was wondering what model I have here. Someone says a model 15??? 4" barrel and 5 screws, square butt, s# K118xxx. Also if anyone can date it and estimate a value that would be great. Thanks for your help!

That's actually a pre-model 15,from about 1951,wearing post 1968 target grips.

Agree with Camster. 1951 would not have a model number on it. I have K115xxx, welcome to the club!

Welcome to the forum.
A "pre-model 15" would have been called a Combat Masterpiece prior to S&W's transition to Model numbers in 1957.

If it's mechanically "right", and depending on your location, if you got it for $350.00 you would be in the ballpark. I have seen slick examples priced substantially higher.

Does that look like a later hammer to anyone else?

Target hammers became available on K-frame revolvers in 1950, so that could be a proper hammer on that gun.

That's a fairly low serial number for a Combat Masterpiece. Definitely first-year manufacture.
