What is the best deal you ever got on a gun?

My best deal is a tie between two firearms....

1. An 8" artillery Luger that I bought in 1965 for $89.95

2. My surplus DCM M1 Carbine in excellent condition, bought in 1964 for $17.50 plus $2.50 shipping.

I still have the carbine. It's a National Postal Meter.

Recently a friend gave me a Beretta M1935. He got rid of it because he didn't want to bother with 32 Auto ammo.

Never done that well with Smiths, but milsurp rifles...:D

Finnish M28 for $85 at an online estate auction. Was marked as a Mauser and it has a beat up wartime stock but I love it. I think the folk at the auction also mistook the red material coming out of the muzzle for rust. Turned out it was petrified grease and the bore is very nice. Cost me nearly $60 in shipping and fees to get into into my hands, but that is the price of doing business over the Web.

Yugo rebuilt 98K with a very rare rebuild code (possibly fewer than 10 in the US) from a very poorly run online auction. One photo per gun and the caption frequently wrong. Thought I was getting a Russian capture at a good price, $170.

SMLE just because I wanted one. Lifted the wood to find an Irish Free State property mark and other proofs to show it went back to England in WWII. Worth twice what I paid for it as the rifle is all matching.

In My opinion these 2 K22-40 2nd model masterpieces

the 1st one was around $350 OTD at a gun shop in Tucson AZ grips were wrong but still a bargain.

Then there was this gun show walk in for $400 the gun was fully engraved by master engraver Benno Huene and again had the wrong grips. and had a Kings front sight installed.

I was in a large chain grocery store gun department (I love living in Alaska, even Nordstroms and J.C. Penny had gun departments back in the old days). I found a new in the box five inch heavy Model 41 in the display case without a price tag. After several minutes a young man finally came to see if I wanted anything so I asked the price of the Model 41.

He pulled it out and turned it over several times looking for the price. He finally put it down and grabbed a 15 plus year old "Shooter's Bible" behind the counter and found the pistol in the well worn pages. He told me it was $209.00. I pointed out that the price had certainly increased since the book was printed and he started to argue. I told him the current retail was probably at least twice that but he insisted that $209 was the correct price.

I plunked down the cash and took the Model 41 home. I hope he didn't lose his job over that sale.

Too many to talk about, but the last one I did involved a multi-gun trade around with several people. The gun I wound up with cost me a -$100.00. I got some boot.

S&W M1006 in very nice condition, for $318. For those that don't follow such things, a nice 1006 with adjustable sights will set you back $600 at the very least. Glad I handload. The 10mm ammo is expensive also.

Pre-model 36, small frame for almost nothing from a LGS who's daughter had some problems with the law and I represented her for free (State Attorney agreed that she'd acted in self defense and ended up not filing charges).

Glock 19 from another lawyer I know for almost nothing. He had accidently shot himself with it while placing it in the old Glock box (with a round in the chamber). We called the Glock "Christine."

On my job we had to buy our own firearms and uniforms, but the State of NY paid for my 5946, that we were allowed to keep if we retired in good standing.

Leaving out free ones, I got this genuine HK 91 for $399 delivered. Paid $150 for the cut up G3 and sold the lower for $100 to have spares. Didn't know it was a good deal in 1984, just hoped I could sell it without having it in inventory too long. Joe

Picked up a 4546 for $327 around 2005, sold it for $750 a year later to pay for some medical items my Mother needed.

Hence the sig line :D

Around 1995, I bought an old, well used Marlin Model 60 for 30 bucks at a flea market, then took it to a gun show and traded it for a new, still in the box Benjamin pellet rifle.

I've had other good deals, but that was one of my favorites.

My gun shop/range has a Memorial Day sale every year. They sell rentals and other stuff at huge savings. This year they advertised nine (9) 5906's as never fired, just used in CCW classroom training, price to be revealed when the doors opened 5/28 at 8 AM.
I was there at 7:30 drinking coffee on the sidewalk in front of the store. Doors open and I'm the first one in. John at the counter says: "Good morning Alan how may I help you?" From halfway cross the room I say: "How much for the 5906?"
"$279 plus tax."
"I'll take all of them."
"Sorry Dude, one to a customer."

Don't own it any longer but the best deal I ever had on a gun was a Winchester Model 21, 12 gauge, 28" vent rib barrels, SST, ejectors, field grade butt stock but the front beavertail wood was a high grade piece of walnut. Barrels were choked WS1 & WS2. The "Stoner" was asking $400 so that he could go on spring break. I turned that $400 into $4500.

Class III

S&W Mdl. 19-4, 4 in. barrel, blue $150.00

S&W Mdl. 27-2, wooden presentation box
and accessories, box of ammo (44 rounds) $165.00
