I use a Lobo Gunleather Pancake with a thumb break for my 686 Plus 3 inch.

It is a great OWB holster that works as well in the field as it does under a t-shirt when I choose to carry my 686. Take today - went to ranch to do some work then straight to office. Untucked t-shirt and 686 disappeared.

Yes, I wear t-shirt in the office. Sweet.

Consider the Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake. I have it for my two K-frame snubs and my Model 27, but Simply Rugged will make it for any model Smith revolver. You can wear it OWB or, with appropriate straps sold as accessories, IWB. It holds the gun securely, is extremely well made, and is cheap, only about $65 for the basic model. Simply Rugged will turn around your order in about two weeks or less.

+1 for Lobo gun leather. This is a 3" 66 but I have the same for my 2 1/2"ers. You get the idea. I like the snap loop so I can take the holster on and off without removing my belt but you can choose the style. Just tell Ray your model and barrel length and he will make it for your exact gun. Love mine!

Another plug for LOBO. You would have a hard time finding a better custom holster for the price of his, speaking from experience. He has a great selection and will work with you for the perfect rig for your 686.

I love Lobo, you can get it exactly how you want it. I have one on order for my 3" 65 and 547.
