What is the difference......

What is the difference between the 5946, which the RCMP carried and the 5943 that I have? People here before have already filled me in on the 5943 very nicely but was just wondering what the difference is. Also does anybody know which agency got which besides the Mounties?

The 5946 will have a stainless steel slide and frame. The 5943 will have a stainless slide and aluminum frame. The difference will be a few ounces.

Far as I can tell, just the weight -- your 5943 being the lighter of the two since it had an aluminum-alloy frame instead of the stainless steel frame of the 5946. Maybe there are other differences if you're asking specifically about any features of the one produced specifically for the RCMP, or if your 5943 is a TSW or a short slide version. Otherwise, we might need a Mountie to throw in on this and expand on that.

I was wondering, 'why not just the 5906' then I realized that the 594x series is DAO with no safety. Got it!!!
