My shot placement is way low with stock sights. I either have to cover target or put the front sight dot about 2/3rds higher than the rear dots.

So I want to buy a lower front sight. To keep my normal point of aim. I carry a duty Glock 19 so I want to stay with a familiar sight picture.

You can file it and cold blue it.
First, you need to define "way low" as " X inches low" . Go to Dawson Precision's website and there's a calculator to tell you how much to remove, taking into account distance, sight radius and POI displacement from POA.

I can tell you that a commander size autoloader will change about 1" @ 50 feet for each .010" removed.

I use a set of calipers opened and locked at say .010". Use the open jaws to scribe a line on the face of the sight. File down to the line to remove .010" and test it.

If it doesn't work out to your satisfaction, at least you've learned something and you can go ahead and replace it.

Oops. re-reading I see you have a white dot. That complicates modification.
So, at the very least, get a set of calipers and measure from the top of the slide to the top of the post. That will give you your current blade height ... probably .200", .190". .180", etc. Then use Dawson's calculator to determine what new size you need. Then shop to see if anyone sells what you want. I'd start with S&W.

Have you let someone else try shooting the gun to see if they get the same results? Have you tried using a laser bore sight to check the line-up?

So j/k aside, I assume you experience proper POA/POI when using sight pic #3 ("combat hold") and prefer to use sight pic #2.

Yes I prefer the 2 sight picture. It's natural for me, it's what I was taught in the Marines, and it's what I've used for over 30 years. In other words I ain't changing it. For steel plates, I get petter picture alignment. For duty carry and qualification, I can see the target better.

For this MP 2.0 I have to use either a little bit higher combat hold or Kentucky elevation.

I was hoping someone knew the factory front sight height.

I believe that the stock sight height is .180" and you want is .160". But if I were you I'd measure it myself.

I've been shooting for 50 years with all sorts of different sight setups. I too preferred #2, but I adjusted to #3 after a few magazines and now my M&P40 2.0 Compact and I shoot very well together.
Just took me a short time to adjust the fire control computer between my ears.

Factory front is .160" tall for non-long slide models and .180" for 9L long slide, Pro Series Long Slide.
