A friend of mine is a very good competition rifle shooter and prefers the AR-15 rifles. He bought a 15-22 solely to practice with but wanted it to be a copy of his competition rifle. It now sports a solid stock, Rock River trigger, a steel rod machined and fastened inside the top of the handguard and the whole rifle weighs about 10 lbs. He has also made a little single round loading device and is working on a single round magazine.. It all works just fine and he used it in the indoor rifle league for the 1st time Thursday. He is one happy shooter.

The most radical change done to a 15-22 that I have read was posted by WildHobbyBobby.

"I recently purchased a Smith & Wesson M&P15-22 straight pull bolt action single shot rifle and had fun with the integral brass catching feature, but I figured I wanted something different, so I returned it to S&W to have it converted to semiautomatic operation."

i read that, theres a few of us out there that sent theres in for the same thing.
