I am working on a 629-6 that has a broken hand pin. In this revision, the hand pin actuates a "slider" that comes up in front of the bolt to stop the bolt from recoiling to "unlock" on heavy recoil. I, for the life of me, cannot find the name of that part as it is not shown in "typical modern S&W revolver" schematics. Does anyone know what this part is called? Thank you.

This is the only diagram I could find. Be careful, it's complicated. :D

Smith & Wesson Endurance Package Parts Diagram:

Seriously, though, I've looked for an "Endurance Package" parts diagram before and have never been able to find one. It is strange that almost every drawing you find on the web leaves those parts out. You might be able to find one, somewhere, on an exploded view of a M29-5 or later N-frame.

WOW!! That transmission blow-up is sure useful!

overthehills,

It is called the Bolt Lock. It is to prevent unlatching of the cylinder under recoil of heavy loads by locking the bolt to the rear.
