My oldest is a pre-Rev War flintlock that was coursely converted to cap-lock sometime mid-nineteenth century. It's even documented to a direct line ancestor who was a surveyor, judge, and Congressman post Rev War. It has always remained in the family and has been given to the youngest male when the current owner dies. I received it in trust at age 5 when my father died at 39. He had received it not long before then, from his uncle who passed in his late 80's. After that one is my Springfield 1842 smoothbore 69 Cal musket.

My oldest is an 1898 Philippine contract 30-40 Krag Carbine.
Next is my Mauser Sniper variant made in 1935.
AC-43 Walther P-38.

My Dad bought this in Spain years ago I don't know how old it is. I also have a 1864 Springfield rifle, pretty beat up

An1897 Colt Lightning .22 has been in my family since the day it was purchased. A treasured heirloom my grandpa gave to me shortly before he passed a couple years ago. Still shoots like a dream.
This Top break S&W 5-shot .38 Belonged to my grandfather. When he was a young sport about town, before he even met my grandmother, a girl friend gave it to him.
When I was just a small boy and we spent Christmas with my grandparents he would take me and my cousin out in the front yard on Christmas day and let us each fire on blank round up in the air. That was about 1952 - 1956. This pistol was made in 1882 according to patent dates on the top strap.

Very old thread. My oldest is probably the Geo Fisher 12 gage damascus shotgun, but I also have this. It is a Colt SAA Artillery made in 1874 It has a 4 digit serial number.

by now my oldest piece in the collection is a
S&W Mod. 2 Old Army shipped from the factory in May 1865.
The 2nd oldest a Colt SAA manufactured in 1896. But unfortunately not in original condition. It got a new barrel approximately in the 1940s.
Oh boy! I negotiate right now for an Allen Thurber & Co. Pepperbox Kal.32 which is in a good to very good condition with serial no. 304.
Does anyone here have an idea when it had been manufactured? Allen's Pat. 1845 is stamped on the hammer. I am guess until the 1860's. Am I wrong?

Several Colt's and one S & W from the 1870's and 1880's. 1898 Krag, Several Winchesters and Colt's from the 1900-1910 period. A few 1920's period. Don't keep count on those later than that.

I have 2 'oldest' guns. An 1888 German 'Commission Rifle' made in 1890 and an 1888 Trapdoor Springfield made in 1890. When you consider them side by side it makes you wonder - were the Krauts that advanced or were we that far behind?!?

I have an 1849 Colt revolver which is operable but I've never shot it.
My oldest working firearm is an W C Scott SLE double gun that was made in 1898.
This gun (pictured) still gets out for an occasional round of trap.
Even though it has fluid steel barrels I only use low pressure shells in it.

M1 and a M1903A3 both originally made in mid 1943 according to the serial number lists. The M1 was in the refit and has a 1947 re-barrel.

Either.....
A 1929 Browning A5 shotgun (in great shape) or a double barrel shotgun of indeterminate age that's probably older. The finish is in such rough shape I don't see any markings. They may be there, but I don't see them.
