I have an older S&W Hand Ejector in 22RF, maybe a combat masterpiece. Does the 11 53 on the frame mean a Nov 1953 build date. The characters on the yoke don't match any other characters I have seen.
Some Pictures:
Without seeing the other side and the gun a little better, you look to have a pre model 18 masterpiece. No doubt 5 screw configuration. Should be 1953
Got some better pictures?
The grips do not look to be original, and neither is the Ace trigger shoe. The number on the bottom of the butt, barrel, cylinder and back of the star extractor should all match
Can you post a pic of the entire bottom of the grip frame where the 11 53 is , it may show some other stampings . Also are there any parts with a small diamond stamp. These could help find out what may have been done.
Saw something bad! A Craftsman screwdriver. On your way to getting bunged up screws. Tapered screwdrivers put the torque at the top of the screw, Hollow ground put the torque at the base of the screw.
Need Hollow ground screwdrivers. Just an observation
there was no marking/stampings on the bottom of the rear sight. The bottom of the frame, the bottom of the barrel and the backside of the ejector plate all had the same number stamped into them. The yoke and the mating part of the frame had the same number stamped into them. This number is different than the other stamped number.
