What is this?

This revolver has a six inch barrel, and the last patent date is Dec 29. 14. Not sure what i have, thanks for any help.

Looks like a 38 Military and Police revolver from the mid 1920s. A serial number would help identify it more closely.

Welcome to the Forum. You have a .38 Military & Police with a 6" barrel. After 1957 it was named the model 10. The stocks (if original) place it as being shipped in the 1920 decade; if you can give the serial number from the bottom of the grip frame (feel free to leave off the last few digits if you prefer, like 1234xx), we can give you a better idea of the year it left the factory. Hope this is helpful.

I have a couple of '20s-era M&Ps, and I shoot 148 grain wadcutter match ammo in them. These are loaded for accuracy, not power, and you can shoot them without worrying about whether you are stressing an older frame and barrel. To be realistic, you could probably shoot any standard pressure modern .38 Special round, but I would avoid +P loads and the zippier standard loads. These older guns deserve to loaf a bit on their outings to the range.

Drakkule, Welcome to the Forum! Nice! I have 1 that was given to me by my father 2 years ago. He got it on a trade in the late 60's. Used to shoot it at the Toledo Police Range. (he had connections) Mine is a little older than yours. Was shipped June of 1919. Don't be afraid to shoot it, but use conservative loads. Why ask for problems? Bob
