Mine is this 1962 Chevy Bel Air Bubble top 409 with the 409 hp
engine in Corona Cream with red interior. It's what I would
call "sexy".

In the early 1960"s there were illegal drag races that took
place at the Kahuku drag strip on the north shore of the island
of Oahu. It was privately owned, and the caretaker's son had
access to the gate keys. Once or twice a month all these hot
cars from all over the island would congregate at night and
drag race all night. One guy had one of these 1962 Bel Air
409's as pictured. That car was really fast. He ended up
totaling the car. I went looking for it back in the 1980's, but
he said it was long gone. The good thing about this drag strip
was that it was near the ocean in a large sugar cane field. You
could hear the sounds of the engines from the main highway
not quite a mile away, and the cops couldn't anything about
the racing as it was on private property.

There were legally sanctioned NHRA drag races at the Kahuku
air strip once a month. I remember the Dodge and Plymouth
426 Hemi's beating everybody.

Mine would be the 1969 Camaro SS 396 I drove in HS similar to this one.

I'm also partial to the 1963 split window Corvette.

Back in the day I never had enough money to actually own a true muscle car. However, if I had I would have bought a mid 60s Chevy II. Closest I ever came was a '65 Impala w/327.

Of course it was my 1968 Oldsmobile 442, 400cuin. 400hp. 4sp and dual exhaust. ;)
Wish I still had it and this what started my infatuation with Oldsmobile !
Drove Olds until they screwed'em up:rolleyes:

That's a tough question that I have been facing for a while since I am contemplating what to buy when my kids finish college soon.
I really like the 1967 Hemi GTX, or a 1965-67 GTO.

A couple years ago my friend showed me a 1963 Chevy Impala SS convertible with a 409, black with a red interior that he had in his shop for a restoration. The car was all original and had less than 20,000 on it when the previous owner went to Vietnam and was killed.
His mom kept the car in the old wooden garage in Detroit until a Comcast installer asked about it. The interior was shot as was the drop top, but the metal was surprisingly mint.

Never had one but a neighbor had a used one during my teens and I have always thought of it when someone says muscle car.

1969 GTO Judge in orange.

But I will admit that I wish the neighbor had owned that 1970 Mach 1....very nice indeed.

I ordered a first generation 1965 PONTIAC GTO. Not so patiently waited almost six months before it delivered to the dealership. The mechanics didn't want to let me take delivery until they had all looked it over completely. Sure wish I still had it.

I'll always be partial to the 1969 Dodge Charger R/T with the 440.....since one just like this was what the young, black-haired, hot-bodied, art teacher Miss Webb drove to school and parked outside the gym when I was an impressionable 8th grader..... :D

It was so cool when she turned the headlights off and they would flip over behind that black-and-silver grill.....
