What is your favorite motto??

"If violence does not solve your problem,
you did not use enough."
"That that does not kill you has a made a grave tactical error."
( Seven Habits of Highly Effective Pirates)
'No matter where you go in this world, there you are.'

"Normal is a cycle on a washing machine."
(Slow Walk in a Sad Rain. John P. McAfee )
If you haven't read 'Slow Walk,' go out and get it.

Then up spoke brave Horatus,
the captain of the gate.
"To every man upon this earth
death comes soon or late.
How can a man die better
than in facing fearful odds.
Before the ashes of his fathers
and the temples of his Gods."

The Nuns made me learn this. It seems they couldn't make me remember who wrote it.

Here's a few I've always liked and remembered:

The early bird gets the worm but, the second mouse gets the cheese.

There's never been a good war or a bad peace...............Ben Franklin.

If your brain was as half as quick as your mouth, you'd be a 20 star general by now.........Heartbreak Ridge.

From my cold dead hands.

Keep your guns and your clothes where you can find them in the dark.......attributed to an Old West gunfighter, outlaw or lawman, I don't know which for sure. (this was something I kept in mind every night I went to sleep in Afghanistan, fortunately, I never had to rely on it).

And for you ladies out there...........No woman ever shot a man while he was doing the dishes.

"If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough."

"Before you can be old and wise, first you must be young and stupid."

"Life begins at 140 MPH."

I like these. They sorta have a theme.

It is not the critic who counts,
or how the strongman stumbled and fell,
or where the doer of deeds
could have done better.

The credit belongs to the man
who is actually in the arena,
who knows the great enthusiasms,
the great devotion,
and who spends himself
in a worthy cause.

If he fails,
at least he fails while daring greatly,
so that he may never be
one of those cold and timid souls,
who know neither victory nor defeat.

- Theodore Roosevelt

When wine, women and song get to be too much......

Give Up Singing

Reminds me of a favorite joke of mine (Groucho Marx I think):

A guy asks his Doctor: "If I give up wine, women, and song, will I really live longer?"....to which the Doctor answers: "No, it will just seem longer".
