What is your holy grail gun?

Still looking for a decent S&W that will letter to have been made in January, 1939, my birth month and year.

Also, since my grandfather worked in the Bisbee, Arizona mines and carried a 5 1/2" Colt SA in .45 Colt (which my grandmother foolishly sold), I would like to find a similar gun made in the 1906-1916 time period, marked "Copper Queen Mining Co."

Anyone having leads on either of these "holy grail" guns is invited to get in touch!

John

A model 16-3 in .32 S&W long.
A Holland and Holland 12 Gauge 2 3/4" Royal Grade Sidelock Ejector made for me with custom fitted stock.

Guess I may get the Model 16 some day....

I have had and found a few grails.
First I wanted a 3 1/2" pre-27 that was shipped in my birth year-1955.
The one I found was shipped 1-14-55. I was shipped 1-30-55. Can't get much closer.

The second grail I wanted was a Md29 5". I got very lucky and found one of those.
I then decided a Md29-1 was the right item to go with my 5" 29. I got that one in Tulsa at the last show.

I really liked the pre 27 nickel that used to show on the first page of this forum. It was a pre 27 3 1/2" nickel gun. I found that one from the son of the original owner. I bet it has not been fired two cylinders. It is beautiful.

The grail of grails- I wanted but never thought I would find a Reg Mag. I found a beauty that never left the Denver area. It is a 6 1/2" with a humpback hammer.

Now for that 5 screw pre-29............

I used to have grail guns, among other grail items..but after realizing what is important in life, I don't have grail anythings anymore...it's quite liberating...but if someone gave me a 3 inch 66 I would still take it...:)

model 1895 winchester in.405 mint condition. model 1886 winchester in 45/70 mint. (both original not modern. k-32 (pre-16) in mint cond.

model 28 no dash 4 inch like the one my grandpa gave me that i stupidly sold.
Or a 3inch model 13 that is FBI marked
or a LAPD marked 4506

Holy Grails

In my dreams, a Barrett light .50, Semi-Auto.

Possibly obtainable some day, ANY 3" model 66. Preferably a consecutively numbered pair. I fell in love with the 3" model 66 the first time I saw it advertised in an Ashland ad many years ago. Got to admit though that I like the looks of the new style thumb latch. -Ed.

For awhile it was a Marlin pump .22, then I got this Model 37:

For awhile it was an HK P7, then I got one:

Then it was a S&W Performance Center Schofield 2000, then I got one:

I guess the only gun I figured I'd never get would be a .44 Special Ruger Blackhawk like Skeeter Skelton had custom built off a flattop .357. But then Ruger actually came out with the single action so I got one and had it engraved as a Skelton Tribute:

I guess I'm done....

I've thought about this for quite some time, and I have decided that I really want a Marlin Model 1888 lever action rifle in .44WCF. Either the rifle or carbine will do. The 1888 was a top eject that was made for only one year. In 1889 Marlin came out with the first side eject.

Some people say that the Winchester Model 1892 had the smoothest action of all lever action rifles. They're wrong. It was the Marlin Model 1888.

Here's the short version of my list...

Revolvers:

S&W Model 12-4, blue 2" RB
S&W Model 696 (no dash)
Complete set of NY-1 revolvers

Semi-Auto Pistols:

Mars Armament Retro 1911A1 w/ Herrett's D45 stocks
Novak HRT Browning Hi-Power
Sig-Sauer 1st Generation P239 SAS (.40S&W DAK) w/ XS 24/7 Big Dot sights

I believe this has been posted in the past but I think it bears a new go round.

We all have that one gun that we want so bad, and for what ever reason we have not acquired it and thus our lives are incomplete, the universe is out of synch, and all is not right with the world.

So what is your "Holy Grail" gun?

Mine is a decent, but not mint, Luger in 9mm. It will be only the second 9mm I will own, the other being my H&K P7M8.

Mine is an artillery Luger because of a Skeeter Skelton story that I read as a kid. His stories were great but eventually he's going to cost me big bucks! LOL

For me I have 2 that are and probably always will be unobtainable. A mint condition 1921 Thompson in an FBI case and an equally mint Colt Monitor BAR.
