With all the talk lately about triggers I thought I would ask people to post their trigger pull weight, for those of you that have trigger scales.
My scale is one of the manual tube style scales, not the most accurate scale in the world but it's good for a rough estimate.
After posting in Lagers thread about his trigger I sat down with my new 15-22 and did a number of pull tests, here are my results:
Test 1
With the arm of the scale at the half way point of the trigger I'm getting an average pull weight of about: 4.75 - 5lbs doing about 5 pull tests.
This is much lighter than I expected, especially since my older 15-22 was closer to 7lbs when it was new.
Test 2
With the arm of the scale 2/3rds of the way down the trigger the pull weight is about 4.25lbs.
On both tests I did notice a slight amount of 'creep' before the hammer fell.
Up until I did these tests I was seriously considering installing a JP trigger spring into the 15-22, it appears that if I do the JP trigger spring mod that it will go into my LMT instead. However, I will take my trigger group out and will use a honing stone and some oil to polish it to reduce any gritty feel, not that there is a lot of it. The trigger in my 15-22 is surprisingly good compared to the early models.....or maybe I just got a good one out of the box.
I'm very interested in seeing the results from others, so please participate in this poll if you have a trigger scale.....thank you in advance.
