If I were carrying a revolver for personal defense as my primary then it would be my Model 19 Combat Magnum. I have used the "K" frame in .38 or .357 for over 30 years in various LE assignments or personal defense. It is the one I know best and am most comfortable with.
For fighting games I stay with my beloved M19 or M15 but have a fondness for the M625 4" model of 1989 in .45ACP. That is my favorite when it is for competition. Bit big for me to make it an EDC.
On the other hand if I KNEW a fight was coming... M1A Scout in hand with a M1911A1 on the belt, several grenades and a radio for air support.
Model 19, 4" bbl, would be hard to beat. 686 would be my second choice. Third choice would be my mod 625 in .45 acp (which would be my first choice but it's too big to carry around all the time). If I knew I was walking into a gunfight, like down the streets of Tombstone on my way to the OK corral. I would pick one of the 7 or 8 shot revolvers but I'm just not that familiar with them to talk about them.
We've got a lot of responses here. Has anyone tallied them up and come up with, say, the top five? (I invoke the excuse of old age and prefer to let one of the younger guys do the pencil work here.)
Well my two have been referred to earlier but with slightly different barrel lengths. A model 57 in 6.5 inch or a model 625 in 5 inch. Mind you, I prefer a Webley Mk VI in 0.455. Large holes, easily reloaded and the recipient will not even know what it is!! Dave_n
