Hello,

I would like to mount a 1" UD to my 6", -4 686 (already drilled I believe, but I have not visually verified that yet) to use for .38 in bullseye. What rail and rings should I use?

Thanks

You can verify if the gun has been drilled and taped by just looking at the underneath of the strap where the rear sight is mounted. You should see three holes. For my 686 I got a Weaver scope base and it fit perfectly. Using a red dot that came with the mount built in that allows me to quickly mount and remove from the base. I sanded down the middle of the Weaver base so I could shoot using the scope base in lieu of the rear sight. Not perfect, but at 25 yards good enough.

I use the Jack Weigand scope mount and the rings that come with the UltraDot on my Bullseye guns:

The Weaver rail would do just fine, though, and it's far less expensive ($7 or $8 for the Weaver, vs. $30 for the Weigand).

I haven't seen anything under $30 or so. I'm in the market for an inexpensive mount for a red dot just to try it out. Have you got a source for the $7-8 mounts?
