I keep reading posts that mention "the recall" When was there a recall of Smiths and why were they recalled? Excuse my ignorance, but I never knew there was a recall. thank you.
Peace,
gordon:confused:
BTW, does anyone know what models were or are involved?

There are different recalls but the one I hear most often mentioned is the one involving the Model 686 and 686-1, which had issues with light primer strikes. I own several dozen Smiths and my no dash 686 is the only one that has ever been back for a recall.

I thought the L-frame recall had to do with the cylinder binding because of the hammer nose and bushing.

There have been numerous recalls over the years for various reasons. From what I can tell, this seems to be a pretty thorough list of them. It can be an interesting and humorous read.

Yes, I was thinking of a different recall. The locking up was caused by the firing pin bushing being too large I think, and it would extrude and lock up the gun. That's why I was thinking of primers.
